Kristen Giles is someone in our class that shines from the inside out. We are so honored to consider her our friend and loved having her on the podcast this week. Kristen is from Canada and talks about her experiences as an international student as well as what it was like to golf all 5 years of didactic learning while juggling pharmacy school. Not only is she a fabulous student, but she also was the girl's golf MVC Champion in 2022 and made it all seem so seamless. We are in awe of Kristen and hope you enjoy this episode!

We are officially done with 3 blocks! Doing some quick math, that is 33% of our rotation year. In this episode, we talk about our experiences in Infectious Diseases in Alaska (Peyton) and during an open block at home (Lexi) and what we've learned/appreciated through it all. Block 4 is right around the corner so we will also touch on what we are most excited for and looking forward to for this upcoming block. Do we feel ready to be pharmacists? Listen in to find out!

On this week's episode, University of Michigan pharmacy student, Mary Westover, joins us to talk about her experience in pharmacy school at a much larger state university. Mary is on rotations in Alaska right now with Peyton and so they have gotten to spend some time exploring the state and learning about the differences and similarities in our curriculum together. We absolutely loved getting to know Mary and think you all will too! Go blue!!

We took a little break from pharmacy this week and are joined by Peyton's twin brother, Alex Braun. Alex went to college in Lexi's hometown, thus connecting us even more than we already were! Alex graduated with a psychology degree and is currently working towards his Master's in Applied Behavioral Analytics. Not only is Alex a working man, he is also a married man to the wonderful and beautiful Zsofi! He touches on how they met through school and working, and they have been happily married for over a year now. Alex is someone who always keeps it real and we hope you enjoy his perspective on life outside of pharmacy.

We have officially completed 2 blocks of our rotation year!! Time sure flies when you're having fun. This week, we talk about our experiences at Iowa Lutheran hospital for Lexi and Broadlawns hospital for Peyton. We talk about the most important things we've learned, some of the challenges we encountered, how we have grown, and some of the coolest things we got to do. Also, we are officially back on track so expect a more consistent schedule!

If you thought pharmacy school was hard, being a student athlete while in pharmacy school is even harder. Throw in working at a pharmacy as well as maintaining a social life and you have Hailey Hovland. Hailey was a student athlete during our time in school and is someone that we really admire and appreciate in our lives. Hailey gives us all the details on what it was like to be a walk-on rower at Drake while juggling pharmacy school as well as talks about her rotations thus far and what she has enjoyed in Colorado and Arizona. Hailey is an absolute delight and this episode is a treat!

This week, AJ joins us to talk about our experiences during P1 Fall and what his experience was like as a transfer student to Drake. AJ also has a unique career interest in industry and just completed a rotation at Eli Lilly. As we're starting to get closer to residency and fellowship applications, this episode is a great one that looks back on the start of pharmacy school (in the thick of COVID) while also looking at the future and how our past is going to propel us to our goals.

Nirjan joins us this week to talk about his experiences with the Iowa Pharmacy Association (IPA), being a TA for multiple classes within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, as well as his overall pharmacy experience and how it has gotten him where he is today. Nirjan is a wonderful human being that I know a lot of people look up to and we had so much fun getting to know him on a more personal level.

Jackie and Renata join us for this week's episode! They started out as our kids in Kappa Psi but have become so much more since. We are so proud of them and all they have accomplished thus far and their wisdom that they have already as rising P1s. We talk about Kappa Psi, favorite Drake memories, and some tips on how to make it through those undergraduate years. We love you two!!
