  • Chin Check - 162 (Preview)

There is a lot happening on the 'UFC on ESPN 21' card.

We have twelve fights, all very interesting, BUT, I think the ones for potential 'Fight of the Night' honours will be:

On the Prelims, the unbeaten Roman Dolidze gets his toughest test to date in Trevin Giles. Who is looking to start his run for greatness.

Then there are two lightweight fighters who haven't lost in the UFC. Leonardo Santos vs Grant Dawson, this has intrigue all over it!

Adrian Yanez had a super impressive 'Dana White's Contender Series' outing, and sensational debut. So right away you wonder about his potential in the Bantamweight division. And he goes up against the extremely tough Gustavo Lopez.

We have a Heavyweight fight that just reeks of crazy, in Tai Tuivasa against Don'Tale Mayes.

Plus we get the return of Gregor Gillespie, but he's got a tough welcoming committee, in Brad Riddell.

AND, all of it is anchored by Derek Brunson vs Kevin Holland.

So, let's preview the upcoming action with today's (ep 162) @ChinCheckPod

  • Chin Check - 161 (Recap)

It was going to be an interesting weekend of fights and 'Legacy Fighting Alliance' started their new residency on Friday night with 'LFA 101: Undefeated'. Back to the naming and as the title said, every fighter on the card (except for one) hadn't tasted defeat. And out of the seven fights on the Main card, six ended via stoppage! It was Ron Kruck and Alan Jouban calling the action this time out.

Hunter Colvin started the Main card off with a submission win at middleweight. And showed, once he gets it to the ground, problems will be had!

Jaqueline Amorim had the quickest win on the card, with a rear naked choke 0:33 seconds into the first round!

After getting dropped early in the round, Jalin Fuller stormed back to get the finish, with a well put together sequence in the Co-main.

And after a tentative start Tee Cummins put those heavy hands to effect, to end the Main event int he third round.

THEN on Saturday we had fireworks, controversy and two 'no contests', one being VERY similar to the knee incident the week before. People,  'UFC on ESPN+ 45' had a LOT to talk about!!!

Matt Semelsberger really got the part started, first fight and quickest KO of the night. 0:16 is all it took for him to put his opponent to sleep

Dan Ige definitely tried to top him though and was only 0:06 seconds out. As he flatlined Tucker with a straight that probably would have stopped a rhino

Davey Grant, Charles Jourdain and Ryan Spann also got impressive KO/TKO stoppages. With Rani Yahya grabbing the sole submission of the night

It started with the crazy, first fight into the Main card. Eryk Anders was looking like he might finish Darren Stewart. Landing bludgeoning shots, but then, he threw a knee to the grounded Stewart's head  Similar, but not quite the same as Petr Yan's the week before!

THEN, in the Main event, after a year and a half out Leon Edwards was looking extremely slick and impressive against Belal Muhammad. But as the second round started, the unthinkable (yes, OK, a little dramatic, I know) happened. As Edwards was masking a kick, he went knuckle deep into Muhammad's eye. It was not pretty and understandably the fight was off and as we hadn't gone two rounds, another 'No Contest'.

So, let's break it all down, in today's (ep 161) @ChinCheckPod

  • Chin Check - 160 (News)

Well, Friday is here, so that means we are turning our gaze to what's been happening in the world of #MMA

It's been said recently, that getting to the UFC is easier, but staying is a lot harder. And that's what Jordan Espinosa and Shana Dobson have experienced. BUT, there's always the chance to return!

Over the last few days a lot of ridiculous claims have been made, but Dan Hardy has now clarified his work situation. And although he's Full Reptile, I don't expect him to go extinct

Losing is always tough, no one wants to do it, but when it happens you wanna carry yourself in a certain way. Unfortunately a couple of fights from 'UFC 259' haven't. Rogério Bontorin is extremely salty with Herb Dean and thinks he should have an automatic rematch with Kai Kara-France. The other is Petr Yan who has had plenty of words for Aljamain Sterling. But no one seems to be talking about his straight up illegal knee!

When it comes to post fight interviews, Dominick Cruz had a memorable one. On a recent podcast with James Lynch he did reveal he'd had talks with Monster about the Hans Molenkamp situation

We ponder if we'll be seeing the UFC in Texas??? And there had been a lot of talk, but we now know which card will be next for ABC.

PLUS, we take a look at the 'UFC on ESPN+ 45' weigh-in's. There was a scare, but in the end, everyone made weight.

Today's (ep 160) @ChinCheckPod breaks it all down, so let's get with it!

    - 2-4 cant keep Jordan Espinosa and Shana Dobson in the UFC

    - Dan Hardy clears air

    - Rogerio Bontorin not happy with Herb Dean!

    - Petr Yan can't use language as an excuse for his illegal knee

    - Dominick Cruz updates the Hans Molenkamp situation

    - Is the UFC going to Texas???

    - And the second card on ABC is......

    - UFC on ESPN+ 45: Edwards vs. Muhammad - weigh-in's

  • EFTV - 145: Faverism, Faverterism, Favouritism

A lot to discuss, like how rough Ghislaine Maxwell is having it, in prison, having to eat microwave food. It would seem that at least one state in Australia could be looking to help its Indigenous peoples. Zayn Malik issues with the 'The Grammy's' seem more rattle out of pram, but he's trying to re-write history and align with 'The Weekend'. And after 'Berlinale' went gender neutral on their awards, now cats are wondering if 'The Oscars' should go the same way! All this and much more covered in this week's #EFTV

PLUS, we get in on the ground floor for the next chapter of the 'MCU'. With Kevin Feige taking control of the TV shows, we've been promised new connectivity, fresh stories So, it was over to Disney+ for 'WandaVision'

AND, our Audible of the week, is the debut book from Leigh Bardugo and start of her many adventures in the 'Grishaverse'. The soon to be Netflix series, 'Shadow and Bone'

    This week:

    - A judge has declared that no case can be brought against Kenneth Walker for his self defence shooting in the unlawful police raid that resulted in the death of his girlfriend Breonna Taylor!!

    - Ian Maxwell thinks his sisters (Ghislaine) prison conditions are unacceptable

    - Loujain Al-Hathloul finally out of jail though Saudi Government still claim shes a terrorist!

    - Australian state Victoria holding first of its kind inquiry into impact of colonisation on Indigenous peoples

    - Poor Zayn Malik upset he didnt get a grammy nomination though hell claim something else!?!

    - Does anyone REALLY want the Oscars to de-gender their awards!?!

Friday had a couple of events MMA and boxing!

iKon held their first event of 2021, TJ De Santis & Pearl Gonzalez called the four fight main card, and we had good performances from Isis Verbeek, Emilee King and Socrates Pierre. It was crowned off with Jason Knight's return to MMA and second round finish.

Then Claressa Shields and Marie-Eve Dicaire headlined the first ever all female PPV to fight to become the undisputed Light middleweight champion!

2x Undisputed Champ 4 Belt era

THEN on Saturday was 'UFC 259' AND we opened up with five, FIVE back to back finishes, Trevin Jones, Uros Medic, Amanda Lemos, Sean Brady, and Kennedy Nzechukwu set it on FIRE

Kai Kara-France was able to stop his skid with a BANG, Askar Askarov and Kyler Phillips had HUGE wins that will elevate them to great next fights. AND Dominick Cruz let cats know, he ain't done yet and you ain't ready for that footwork!!

PLUS, anchoring the card were the THREE title fights!!!

Aljamain Sterling challenged Petr Yan's for the Bantamweight strap first things started great for Aljo, but then Yan came back. We had a fun fight, BUT, then it went nuts, Yan threw an intentional illegal knee, he's disqualified, we got a new Champ, in a way that no one, especially Aljo saw coming or wanted!

Next up, Amanda Nunes showed why she's the GOAT, it was a flawless display against Megan Anderson...AndStill

THEN, the much anticipated clash, Israel Adesanya moved up to go against Jan Błachowicz for the Light Heavyweight belt. It was back & forth, intriguing as hell, human chess. But in the end Jan used his size and skill to get takedowns to see out the win. And how can anyone be made at that, Błachowicz is the divisions Michael Bisping!
