Echo Chamber

Well, Friday is here, so that means we are turning our gaze to what's been happening in the world of #MMA

They have put on some tremendous fights in their time (10 & 13yrs) with the 'UFC', but Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos have made the walk to the octagon for the last time!

Thinking about what's next for them 'Rizin Fighting Federation' President Nobuyuki Sakakibara (who signed him at 'Pride') has said he'd be interested at talking with Overeem. And of course 'Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship' President David Feldman has said he's reached out to both.

Now, ol Paulo Costa, for some reason, because you feel everyone had let it go. Well, he's still making up excuses for his title fight no show. Otherwise known as, 'excuse 20'.

AND, we take a look at the 'UFC 259: Blachowicz vs Adesanya' weigh-in's. All three title fights are a GO and just one fighter missed weight, luckily not egregiously.

Today's (ep 157) @ChinCheckPod breaks it all down, so let's get with it!

- Alistair Overeem no longer a UFC fighter

- Junior Dos Santos parts with the UFC

- What next for Reem and JDS???

- Paulo Costa still making excuses!!!

- UFC 259: Blachowicz vs Adesanya - weigh-in's

'Anotha Round' by Tha Alkaholiks - 2010

On this week's @EchoChamberFP we bring you Spanish romance, a music documentary, and a shuddering indie horror. As well as news on this year's BFI Flare Festival.

Dani de la Orden directs 'Crazy About Her' (Loco Por Ella). Which tells the story of how Adri (Álvaro Cervantes) and Carla (Susana Abaitua) meet one night at a bar and have an incredible time together. It was only meant to be one night, but Adri can't stop thinking about Carla, so tracks her down. Problem is, she's a patient at a residential hospital and the only way he can see her, is if he becomes a patient too!

Some hail Christopher Wallace (aka The Notorious B.I.G., aka BIG Poppa, aka Biggie) the King of New York, the greatest rapper alive, whether you believe this or not, he blazed a path for defining moment in time. But what lead him to the rap game, how did he develop, who did he hold dear? 'Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell' attempts to pull back the curtain and give us a glimpse into the early years of a young Wallace through rare behind-the-scenes footage and the testimonies of his closest friends and family.

'Lucky' is the new film from Natasha Kermani (director) and Brea Grant (writer & star) on Shudder TODAY! They have created an interesting, unique tale of a of a woman who finds herself stalked, threatened and attacked on a nightly basis by a mysterious 'faceless man'. Everyone around her seems to think this is a normal thing, which forces her to take matters into her own hands, as well as open up to people offering help!

'My Mind Playin’ Tricks on Me' by Scarface - 1991

Visit Podcaphilia for more episodes HERE!!!

With the third PPV of the year, and first of March, 'UFC 259' has to be the most impressive yet!!!

Fithteen fights, with some intriguing storylines weaved within. Like Jake Matthews who has looked fantastic of late, with a real renewed focus to the game. But he's going in against the unbeaten Sean Brady who has looked like a beast!

We then have the return of Kennedy Nzechukwu, who when he's on his game, seems to have a wealth of potential. He's standing across from 'Dana White's Contender Series' graduate and 'City Kickboxing' alum, Carlos Ulberg. And with the champ as his main training partner, you can't sleep on him because of the perception of inexperience!

Joseph Benavidez and Dominick Cruz both have the opportunity to bounce back from their last fights and show the world they're still very much threats in the game. But their opponents have different narratives they wanna tell and next levels they wanna reach.

Askar Askarov and Casey Kenney aren't here for the show money!

And the card ends with the triple header!!!

First up Aljamain Sterling hopes to cut down to size the man he calls 'Paper Champ'. And with his slick & funky BJJ skills, we could definitely be hearing a 'And New'. But, Petr Yan only just picked up the belt and has no plans of handing it over, to anyone!

Megan Anderson will be looking to utilise her height & reach advantages and pull off something no one in the last seven years has been able to do! She'll be facing a lioness, and once uncaged, Amanda Nunes has looked pretty much unstoppable, beating the who's who of female MMA!!!

THEN, we have the newly minted Light Heavyweight Champ Jan Błachowicz putting his belt on the line against the Middleweight Champ Israel Adesanya. So many questions, will experience play a part? Can speed over come power? Is the weight difference going to make any difference? Will we get a new 'Champ Champ' or 'And Still'!

So, let's preview the upcoming action with today's (ep 156) @ChinCheckPod

'Daaam!' by Tha Alkaholiks - 1995

We come out hot on this week's #EFTV as Harry & Megan telling Oprah "It's been hard leaving the Royal lifestyle, to just being filthy rich"! Then the continuation of rewriting the past is happening, as six Dr Seuss books are pulled from circulation! A @nike exec gets caught in a reselling situation, Taylor Swift gets angry cause someone has pointed out facts about her life AND @amazon bow to dumb social media and change their App logo Plus a LOT more!!!

PLUS, we return to Netflix for the live action remake, and check out 'Fate: The Winx Saga'. Which goes into a world where fairies and magic are real. And those with the abilities often head to Alfea College to harness the skills. BUT, evil always lurks in dark places.

AND, our Audible of the week, is a return to Octavia E. Butler's 'Xenogenesis trilogy' and the continuation of the story of Lilith Iyapo, the Oankali and survival of the human race, with 'Adulthood Rites'.

'Contents Unda Pressure' by Tha Alkaholiks - 1997

In Miami, Avni Yıldırım challenged Canelo Alvarez for his WBC and WBA super middleweight titles. It seemed that he forgot the task though once he hit the ring. Because over three rounds, Yıldırım offered little to no offence and after Alvarez put him down in the third, one of his trainers called the fight before the fourth.

Well, Friday is here, so that means we are turning our gaze to what's been happening in the world of #MMA

The PFL (Professional Fighters League) have finalised their third season, the dates have been set, 23rd April. And rosters filled out with Gleison Tibau, Aleksei Kunchenko, Jason Ponet, Chris Wade, Anthony Dizy, Kaitlin Young, Taylor Guardado, and Nick Roehrick.

We thought we'd seen the last of him, BUT, Edson Barboza has re-signed with the UFC!!!

Things have pivoted it would seem for Frank Mir, we thought he was going to start bare knuckling it, BUT, out of nowhere, he's now fighting Antonio Tarver as Co-main on 17th April

He's always been a bit crazy, but now he's getting Wild! That's right people, Tony Ferguson has found a home at the Wildcard Gym with LEGENDARY boxing coach (and don't get it twisted, Roach has MMA knowledge, helping cats like GSP) Freddie Roach! Just imagine how this is going to charge up Ferguson!

AND, we take a look at the 'UFC on ESPN+ 44' weigh-in's. Not as bad as last week, BUT one missed, and we lost two due to injury.

Today's (ep 154) @ChinCheckPod breaks it all down, so let's get with it!

'Hands on the Wheel' (feat. ASAP Rocky) by ScHoolboy Q - 2012

We back to the Heavyweights this weekend, with 'UFC on ESPN+ 44' where the big men anchor the card!

Before that though, we have some interesting things happening. Like the unbeaten Ramazan Kuramagomedov makes his debut against the grizzled vet, Alex Oliveira.

We have a couple of rematches on the card. One nearly four years in the making, when Angela Hill & Ashley Yoder get to it. And the other, is Pedro Munhoz vs Jimmie Rivera which will be nearly seven years from the first throw down.

Alexis Davis is walking into a HUGE fight, as it's her first back since the baby AND, she REALLY wants to break her recent streak. However, she's going against the 'Colombian Queen' Sabina Mazo who might be one of the most slept on athletes in the women's division!!

Our Co-main has Magomed Ankalaev who has looked pretty sensational since the hiccup of his debut. He's going against Nikita Krylov who looked great in his last fight and wants to get back into the mix of things!

AND, the Main, you have to wonder, will the winner of Jairzinho Rozenstruik & Ciryl Gane be setting themselves up for a fight against Derrick Lewis!?!

So, let's preview the upcoming action with today's (ep 150) @ChinCheckPod

- UFC on ESPN+ 44: Rozenstruik vs Gane

'Relax and Take Notes' (feat. The Notorious B.I.G. & Project Pat) by 8Ball & MJG - 2007

Is it a popularity contest to get help from Amnesty International these days? If you ask Alexei Navalny, he might say it is, as he loses his 'Prisoner of Conscience' status. Californian school boards will be checking their Zoom meetings very carefully! The Southern Baptist Convention are an odd bunch, they helped the reputation of the church and then f@«ked it all up again at the same meeting  A young lady with 34H breasts wanted free reduction surgery from the NHS, they said "no", so she's now going to fundraise (instead of saving up)  AND, those crazy fouls at the Karachi Police force are using rollerblades to fight crime  Well talk all this and more on today's #EFTV

PLUS, we head back over to Amazon Prime and checkout their new six part series, 'Soulmates'. Set 15 years in the future, where a company called Soul Connex have discovered a 'soul' gene and can, with 100 percent accuracy, match you with your Soulmate!

AND, our Audible of the week, is the sixth book in 'The Gray Man' series from Mark Greaney 'Back Blast'. And get ready for a status quo shake up!!!

This week:

- Amnesty International take away Alexei Navalny's status as a 'prisoner of conscience' cause of 15 year old comments, even though he technically is a 'prisoner of conscience'!!!

- An entire Californian school board resign after parents hear them talking smack!

- Who's giving money over a dating App!?!

- Southern Baptist Convention kick out 2 churches for employing pedos BUT also 2 for LGBTQ inclusion!

- Would you donate money so a woman can get a breast reduction!?!

- New Civil Code in China changing the game for divorce

- Karachi police are now patrolling on rollerblades!

'Hands In the Air' by 8Ball & MJG - 2003

This past weekend, we saw 'Legacy Fighting Alliance'  celebrate a BIG birthday and Heavyweights change the game!

It was 'LFA 100' on Friday and this time out we had Michael Chiesa joining Ron Kruck at the announce table

Tommy Aaron had been out for a while, but didn't slow down one bit. Continued to push forward and ended up getting the stoppage!

Steven Nguyen was able bounce back from his 'Dana White's Contender Series' loss, with some short work. Signed, sealed & delivered with a BIG right!

Fast movement and faster hands was a big part of Charles Johnson getting a second round submission

AND, Victor Altamirano gave five dominant rounds in order to leave the building, 'And New', with the Flyweight belt!

On Saturday at 'UFC on ESPN+ 43' the heavyweights came out, HARD!!!

Sergey Spivak got things popping and showed, sometimes, what you ask for, ain't what you want!

Then Tom Aspinall started the charge for the young guns, with his BIGGEST win to date!

Chris Daukaus continued things, but decided to end his night a round earlier and via TKO instead of RNC.

It wasn't just the big guys though, cause Aiemann Zahabi deaded his losing streak in sensational style. And you really saw what that win meant to him!

And Casey O'Neill made one hell of a debut! Her relentless energy paid off BIG

In the Co-main Yana Kunitskaya showed that if you never stop working, anything is possible!

AND, in the Main, Derrick Lewis demonstrated  that an uppercut is one hell of a takedown deterrent!!! And shock up the narrative of the division f'sure!!!

So, let's break it all down, in today's (ep 152) @ChinCheckPod

- LFA 100: Altamirano vs Smith

- UFC on ESPN+ 43: Blaydes vs Lewis
