  • Reap The Blessing of Doing Good
Welcome to the power of prayer podcast. I am your host, Sherrie T., and this is the best day of your life because God is in control. Our affirmation is we are excited, blessed, grateful, and, most of all, we are Believers 4 Life. We hope these moments of prayer and bible reading will empower you to have faith in God's word. Believe in John 3:16 and be transformed by the Holy Spirit. Inspire you to pray for your family, friends, and community.
May the meditation of our hearts and the words of our mouth be acceptable in your sight. We call on the name of Jesus to heal our broken hearts and open blind eyes. Teach us your ways as we study your word. May the Spirit of wisdom, revelation, counsel, and might guide us into all truth and show us those things which shall come to pass. Today we put on the whole armor of God, standing for truth, seeking righteousness, walking in the gospel of peace, sharing our faith, believing in our salvation, and speaking the word of God to prevail against the forces of evil. In Jesus' name. Amen.
    Galatians 6:9-10
Let us not become weary in doing good, for we will reap a harvest at the proper time if we do not give up.  Therefore, as we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially those who belong to the family of believers. New International Version
    Reflection:
Do you feel unappreciated or drained when you give your time, talent, and resources? I want to encourage you to persevere in doing good. Why? Because you are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Jesus was our example of doing good, and when the right time appeared, destiny made the opportunity...Copyright Act 1976 allows for "fair use" purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, and scholarship research. His intercession is constant, as he closes the first stanza with gratitude giving thanks for their commitment to giving their time, talent, and resources. We arrive at this point in our text where we find the Apostle Paul is telling his story. Listen as I read verses 12-14, “Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has served to advance the gospel. (13) As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. (P) Paul is confident that his confinement had created a movement despite his hardships; he knew all things worked together for good to those who love God and called according to his purpose. It was evident that the entire community recognized that his suffering was not in vain but...Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, and scholarship research. Not just to the person or persons I am praying for, but also something wonderful happens to me. I'm grateful that I’m-heard. I believe this quote is relevant to our text as we seek to answer the question "Are We Living the Life of Christ": "Are you and I living the life." Paul reveals three things that will answer our question. First, we must be servants; secondly, we must be grateful; and lastly, we must pray. I will get to that momentarily. Take a journey with me over in Romans chapter 16, where we find Paul helping start a church in Philippi, a Roman colony and a leading city in Macedonia. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.  For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Accept one another, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days, you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”...These appointed feasts tell a story of God’s amazing love for His beloved creation. Beginning with a weekly Sabbath (we are to work six days and rest on the 7th). The next three Feast are Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, and Feast of weeks-known as Shavuot. This past March, my Jewish brothers & sisters began celebrating the Spring feast with Passover, Unleavened bread, and at sunset on yesterday May 16 at sunset– May,18th, we will celebrate Shavuot! Shavuot was originally a harvest festival but now commemorates the giving of the Torah; it is celebrated 50 days from the feast of Unleavened Bread. Listen as I read Leviticus 23:15-16, “From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the Lord. Let me explain. If you count off seven Saturdays, the next day is Shavuot. I believe Shavuot is the foundational piece to ushering in the promise...this time it’s different. Here’s why to have this experience (the infilling of the Holy Spirit) you must repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins, and then receive the power to witness...Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, and scholarship research.
