(Chinese) No matter if we have a master or not, we must rely on ourselves, because the highest master is ourselves rather than the Master outside or the Master inside. However, before reaching a certain high level, we still need the guidance from a wise person whom we call Master or Teacher. Of course, before we achieve anything in spiritual practice, we still need to rely on someone who has more experiences than we do, just like we need a guide to lead the way, because we haven't treaded on that path ...

(Chinese) Everything originates from the Sound. The Sound is God or the Buddha Nature. God is the highest level and the highest ideal. Hes represents the highest thought or concept, and is called Anuttara-Samyak-Sambodhi or the Buddha Nature in Buddhism. The Sound or Buddha Nature is eternal. Whether we become humans or animals, the Sound is forever within us and we can use it as long as we’re in a human body. Actually, the Sound is not sound. It’s a kind of subtle, rhythmic light or sound combined ...

(Chinese) Our souls are originally peaceful. When the soul is peaceful, we can see the Light and hear the Sound, which means that our soul is free and has left this body; our mind and body are not controlling our soul and we are liberated from the physical world. This is what matters. It doesn't become pacified when the mind wants it to be. Whatever the mind thinks is not right. It perceives black as white and white as black. The Quan Yin Method is the best and most perfect method, which has been mentioned ...

(English) Excerpts from Supreme Master Ching Hai's lecture: Our life, our time here, is very short so we have to make the best use of it. Don't ask people to serve us. We have to ask how we can serve people all the time and we'll never go wrong. What do we need, that people have to serve us? We don't need anything! We have enough clothes, enough food, and that's all. And the rest of the time, we have to develop ourselves spiritually. And then we have to use our spare time to serve the world, both inside ...

(Chinese) In the eyes of an enlightened person, everyone is a Buddha. If you truly practice, some day you will realize this level and know that all beings are Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. There would be no sentient beings without Buddhas, nor Buddhas without sentient beings. Buddhas are the true sentient beings, and sentient beings are the true Buddhas. There's nothing else we can say except this. Sentient beings don't know they are Buddhas yet, so Buddhas and Bodhisattvas have to come and teach them in manifestations, ...

(Chinese) The Buddhist Sutra says that "troubles are Bodhi." How do we turn trouble into Bodhi? Supreme Master Ching Hai points out that we can easily find our Buddha nature with good methods of spiritual practice; there's no need to change anything. We just look for Bodhi and leave trouble behind; of course trouble still exists, but it is no longer our concern. Just like when we are focused on our work, we do not feel hungry. For example, on a road full of thorns and stones, as long as we put on a pair of boots big ...

(Chinese) Can our karma be removed by prostrating to repent, worshiping mountains and waters, contemplating the Zenist cases, and practicing breathing? Supreme Master Ching Hai points out that Karma is invisible. It is the influence gathered and recorded in previous and current states of life existence, a kind of rough and invisible vibration. How can the worldly language help us cleanse this subtle and invisible karma? To remove karma, we have to use our inner vibration power. Only in this way can we cleanse our ...

(English) Excerpts from Supreme Master Ching Hai’s lecture: I'm grateful to be here with you, among beautiful people. It's just that sometimes you don't know how beautiful you are. You try to pretend to be stupid, to be bad, but you're nice, you're really perfect. Nothing you do can change your perfection. One day you will realize that. Because we try too hard to be something else, to be someone else, and to please everyone else, we forget our perfection. I realize that and one day you too will ...

(English) Excerpts from Supreme Master Ching Hai’s lecture: Each soul selects his own path to walk to God, with different levels of passion and with different timing. We who are here, those who are more experienced, who walk in advance, are ready, like the angels or the Masters of the universe who are ready to assist any soul. Should he or she wish to make a different choice at any time in his life, just like in a film, somebody has to be a murderer, somebody has to be a detective, somebody has to be a ...

(English) Is enlightenment related to a person's character, virtues or shortcomings? Why were there so many "Zen enigmas" exchanged between masters and disciples in ancient times? What is the hidden meaning behind these stories? What is the difference between "theoretical understanding" and "ultimate realization"? How does our spiritual practice benefit from the verbal teachings of an enlightened Master? Is language necessary to explain the teachings of Truth? What is the real meaning of "living in the present ...
