We’re probably aware of the moral decay all around us. From things we see on the news, to social media, to entertainment that pushes the envelope, it seems to be getting worse. We’ve come a long ways from kids playing outside all day without any worries and leaving your door unlocked at night. One thing is for certain, things have changed and are continuing to change. But how did we get here? Is God’s blessing for the US drying up? Is there hope for our children? Yes! In this message we will look back to the vision that brought blessing, what changed, and what we must do if we want to see the next generation prosper.

What is faith? If your friend or neighbor invited you out for coffee and asked you to explain “faith” to them, could you do it? Faith can feel like a nebulous topic that we will never be able to fully understand – and that’s somewhat true this side of heaven. But faith really is more like a verb. It’s a lifestyle to be lived out. Come learn what faith truly is and how you can walk in it daily.

John 15:1
1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener."
We all need godly power and spiritual life within us in order to live joy-filled, fruitful lives. However, many people don’t know where to find this life-giving power, and those of us who do know where to find it often don’t know how to draw from it—maybe we’re not aware that we need to draw from it? Jesus wants to help us with this. In this message we will look at the source of true spiritual life and how we can draw more of it out of Christ and into us.

John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
This might just be the most controversial of all of Jesus claims. Jesus claims to be the only way to God the Father. In a world with so many people searching for the answer, we have the answer. But what about us? Are we walking the right path, are we holding to the truth, are we experiencing the life? In this message we will look at what it really means to be a Christian, and three challenges for us at Edinbrook as we kickoff a new ministry year and grapple with how to navigate a darkening world in need of Jesus.

Regardless of how we feel about it, life in this world will end. Unless Jesus returns in our lifetime, we will all experience the reality of death. What we have to understand is that we have an enemy, Satan, who uses death against us, who aims for us to waste our life living in fear of dying. Yet, this is why we have such good news as Christians! Jesus has come to give us victory over death! But how do we walk in that victory? In this message we will look at why we do not need to fear death, and practically how to walk in confidence and victory over the threats of the enemy. Disclaimer—this message might be frightening for some children.
John 11:25
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;”
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I struggle being lead. Honestly, I am not good at it, because I like to be in charge of my own life. But in John 10 Jesus describes himself as the Good Shepherd, and a shepherd’s job is to lead the flock. This means that we have a Shepherd who is good and can be trusted, and we can choose to follow him. This Sunday we are going to ask the questions why does it matter that Jesus is the Good Shepherd? And if he is in fact good, what does that mean for our life?
John 10:11, 14
11“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."
14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me,"

To get on the other side of a barrier that we can’t climb or go around, we need an opening, a door, a gate. Jesus teaches us that He is the gate that gives us access through the barrier. But why do we want to be on the other side? Why do we want access at all? Is the reality on the other side worth the cost of surrendering to the shepherd? What if we think we have access, but we don’t? In this message we will talk about the core of the Gospel, which many people miss, and how to make sure we have access to it.
John 10:7, 9
7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep... 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture.”

In John 6 Jesus tells His followers they must feed on His flesh and drink His blood! Wow! Just imagine what people must have been thinking who heard Jesus say this. This has got to be one of the wildest statements in the entire Bible. So, why does Jesus say this? Was it to be controversial? Just to get a reaction? Jesus says this because feasting on His body and blood is absolutely essential if a person desires eternal life. In this message we will discuss Jesus’ claim as the bread of life and why it is so important for our life (and culture) today.
John 6:35
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
