Entering into a covenant with God means entering into a relationship rooted in rugged love. Despite our defiance and disobedience, God continues to love His people and provide for them. At the very heart of our covenant with God is the gospel.

We often have short memories. No matter what God has done in the past or what He has promised for the future, we sometimes question what appears to be His inactivity. Our impatience causes us to take matters into our own hands, which means taking them out of God's hands.

God makes himself available and accessible to us, but that does not mean He is not holy. Preparing for (consecration) and acknowledging the holiness of God gives us perspective on our journey to freedom as we submit our life to the will of the Holy One.

Sometimes the provision of God comes in ways we do not see or expect. We often want God to act on our terms. The journey to freedom is a journey of genuine faith. To be faithful is to submit to God's plan and provision even when they seem to violate our short-sided expectations.

Fear and anxiety often prompt an impulsive reaction. As we journey to freedom with God, we will inevitably face obstacles along the way. In those times, we need to pause in the presence of God and acknowledge that He is in control and will deliver us.

There is a difference between being set free "from" something, and being set free "for" something. When Moses told Pharaoh to let God's people go, he always followed it with "…so they can worship/serve God." Our journey to freedom has a destination and a purpose beyond personal pleasure.

It can difficult to see beyond painful circumstances. The Israelites struggled to hear words of hope because they faced incredible discouragement (6:9). On our journey to freedom, we must look beyond our circumstances to see and hear the promises of God's provision and guidance.

One's journey to freedom often begins with a personal encounter with God. Moses encountered God at the burning bush, but as resistant to God's calling. If we want true freedom, we must trust God and step out of our comfort zones.

God has blessed us with an "indescribable gift." But his blessings are not meant to stop with us; they are meant to flow through us. Choosing to be a channel of blessing helps others and points them to God.

The world paves a path to happiness that runs through its own values and often right over other people. But Jesus reveals the way to true blessing and joy--the humble and sometimes hard path of true discipleship.
