This has been one of my most requested podcast episodes: how do I organize my life - with two high needs little kids, a bonus teenager, and a husband who's currently deployed - so I can ACTUALLY run my business?

It took a while to find a system that worked, but I've been successfully implementing it for ages now and it's been a GAME CHANGER. I've broken it down into three distinct pieces that have made all the difference, and I'm so excited to share them with you.

You can be the most incredible expert, the most passionate provider, the most skilled & experienced at what you do... but if you are halfassing the fundamental elements of online business & marketing, your business will likely not be here in two years time. 

There is no longer space in online business for people who don't want to give it their all, or who are just looking for overnight social media success. High quality, intentional marketing isn't a nice-to-have anymore, it's a requirement- listen in to find out what that looks like in 2023 and beyond!

Are you actually trying your absolute hardest, or are you trying just enough that if it doesn’t work out you don’t feel stupid?

If you’re trying to market your business online and your ego can’t cope with the possibility that you might publicly put in effort and publicly experience the failure of that effort… then you’re not really trying. 

If you never give 100%, then you always have “I didn’t really try” to fall back on. You can blame your lack of results on not trying your hardest- you can bubblewrap your ego with the space between what you’re doing and what you’re actually capable of.

Going all in is vulnerable. Publicly pursuing your goals with passion and tenacity feels exposed as fuck- it can be terrifying. That’s why the vast majority of people will never do it… and that’s why the ones that do seem so exceptional.

Your brain is going to tell you to stop. Your brain is going to tell you to play small. Your nervous system is going to sound the alarm when you start to push past what “not trying too hard” looks like in your world because you’re wired to be afraid of rejection by your peers.

That’s not a sign that you shouldn’t keep going- it’s just misplaced survival instincts. Your brain works much the same as it did 40,000 years ago… and it really can’t tell the difference between the fear of embarrassing yourself on Instagram and the fear of being cast out of the social group and unable to survive alone. 

The good news is… you can. YOU are in charge of your thoughts- and you can also manage your more body-based reactions once you become aware of them. You don’t have to let an illogical fear dictate how aggressively you pursue your goals.

Make 2023 the year you show up and REALLY try. Not just enough to say you sorta did, but with full-body “let’s fucking do this” energy. Decide right now you’re okay with failing, because you will sometimes. Decide right now you don’t care who‘s watching, because it’s not going to matter when you eventually make it.

Make this year the year you give your goals everything you’re capable of, instead of just the effort that feels safe and comfortable- you’ll never know what you could have done if you don’t actually try. 💖

The R-word on every business owner’s mind right now…the recession. I don’t know about you, but right now my little online bubble is FULL of content about “surviving the recession as a business owner.” And yes, I think that’s a very important conversation to have… but I think we all know by now that things are changing, and business is getting tougher. It's been a little over two years since the killing of George Floyd on camera thrust racial justice into the social media spotlight- and as a DEI consultant working on the frontlines of the diversity, equity, and inclusion space, Simone McNish experienced the internet uproar differently than most.
