In addition to that, we are going to play the NEW single from Bears and Company! After a hiatus for a few years, they're back and we're excited to share their new song, "Nagoya" with you!
We're diving into stacks of new music from KC musicians and bands and kick off the show with a recap of Boulevardia. We remind you that June 21 is Make Music Day - a day filled with free concerts celebrated all around the world, and we look ahead to what's next on the summer calendar!
Hear new music from Julia Haile, Heidi Lynne Gluck, Second Hand King, The Holdaways, Clearfight, Krystle Warren, Caley Rose, Lovely Burden, Collidescope, Savanna Chestnut, and corey dies in the end, who is playing a show this Friday at The Brick.
At the top of the show we hear from Kemet Coleman, front person for The Phantastics who are playing a FREE concert for The Bridge on Sunday, July 2 at a new place in JOCO called SERVfun, at 90th and Metcalf, come on down!
We welcome in special guest, DJ Diehard aka Street Beast aka McClain Douglas Johnson. DJ Diehard has a great story to tell and he shares it with us as we countdown the days to Boulevardia and to his set on Friday night at The Silent Disco. We learn about his early days as a DJ in New Orleans, we get to hear about a massive list of musicians that he’s interviewed over the years as a blogger and journalist, and we get to hear a 20-minute mix teaser set of what his set might sound like this Friday at the fest. Do you have your tix yet?
DJ Diehard picked out a few artists he is most excited to see at Boulevardia and we play music from them as well. Hear music from Jason Isbell, Big Freedia, and a brand-new single from Hembree, which actually comes out this Friday.
Also, co-host Sarah Bradshaw is back and will be along for the ride, as we celebrate and look forward to Boulevardia.
It should be a fun show, filled with good music and one-liners from DJ Diehard. He also tells us about the origin of his DJ name, spoiler alert, it’s connected to one of the greatest holiday films of all time.
We dive into new and recent releases from national acts, international acts, and some main stage acts from the lineup for the upcoming Boulevardia Beer and Music Festival, acts like Kat King, The War and Treaty, K.Flay, Madds, Cimafunk, Big Freedia, Surfaces, Jason Isbell, The Beths, Post Sex Nachos, and grandson.
In addition to sharing lots of good music with you, we try and give you some tips and pointers for the festival. We share some knowledge about:
• parking
• how to get tickets
• the newly launched Dash Pass for The Silent Disco
• 19 food trucks will be at the fest

• we talk about the beer vendors, and how they’re really all amazing volunteers working hard to help a non-profit organization, like Midwest Music Foundation
We also let you know that we just added a few more acts to the lineup:
• Sass-a-brass Band, playing at 5:45PM on Saturday, June 17, they’ll be leading a parade from the main stage, right as Big Freedia ends, and then march through the crowd into the park toward the Propaganda3 Stage - this will be amazing
• Tre' Mutava, playing at 4:30PM on Saturday, June 17 on the Quirk Stage
• DJ Rico aka Boss Hooligan Soundsystem from 3-5PM in The Silent Disco, Saturday, June 17
The first part of the show will be all about Make Music Day, which happens worldwide annually on June 21. This year over 40 acts will play in over 25 venues/parks in KC. We hear music from some of those acts playing on Make Music Day including Molly Hair, Musicbyskippy, Keelon Vann, SliKc, and Damon Parker of The MGDs. The second half of the show will feature more new releases, this time from Danny McGaw, Ethan and Charlie G, St Violet, Hermon Mehari, Rewound x Calvin Arsenia, and Collier Cash - you may know him as the Foo Fighters kid, as he was on stage with Dave Grohl and was gifted his guitar.
It’s all about new music as we hear brand new releases from a dozen KC area acts including Caley Rose, IVORY BLUE, Zion Isaiah, St. Violet, The Whips, Tre' Mutava, PURE XTC, Dan Jones and the Squids, M E aka Myself Embodied, The Salvation Choir, Darren Denney, and malekazrael.

Boulevardia sponsors will be there giving out swag, Monster Energy, Proper Cannabis, and others. Also, the first 30 people to check in at the Boulevardia table in The Beer Hall will get a FREE drink ticket to be used at Boulevardia 2023, June 16 or 17 at Crown Center.
On the radio show, we hear music from and also interview Back Alley Brass Band, a lively bunch of NINE musicians that are winning over new fans with every show, from Boulevardia to their recent performance at the sold-out Kelce Jam during the NFL Draft, where they played in front of 18,000 people.
Also on the show, we hear music from bands that Back Alley Brass Band is most looking forward to seeing at Boulevardia.
And we kick off the show with music from Kemet Coleman, who is headed to The White House TODAY to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris as part of a roundtable discussion focused on entrepreneurship among young men of color, as his brewery, Vine Street Brewing Co. is about to open!
