It’s a big one this week as we reveal the lineup for Boulevardia 2023, Kansas City’s biggest music and beer festival!!! On the show, we dive into the lineup for Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17 and we also play music from a dozen or so of the acts.
This year marks the EIGHTH year for the festival, which started back in 2014. Nearly 300 bands, musicians, and DJs have played at the fest. Once again, this year the fest returns to Crown Center.
We’re really excited to talk about this year’s headliners. We throw around words like “Grammy winner”, name-drop the biggest music fests in the world as these acts are either on those lineups this year or played them in the past, and we talk about our first band to play the fest from New Zealand.
Tune in for Songs From The Heart, a day of music celebrating National Donor Day, that pairs nicely with Valentine’s Day.
On the show, we hear songs on theme from great KC acts and musicians like Hembree, Tech N9ne, The Summer Storms, Dragon Inn 3, The Greeting Committee, and Katie Crutchfield aka Waxahatchee.
We also hear from these acts with upcoming gigs:
• Daniel Gum - Wednesday, Feb 15 at Manor Records Showcase, Daniel Gum & honeybee @ Mean Mule Distilling Co. at 1733 Locust St
• Jessica Paige - Thursday, Feb 23, Jessica Paige & Lucas Parker Band @ The Ship
• Frogpond AND Katy Guillen & The Drive, playing a show together on Saturday, March 4 at Knuckleheads
Also, we have fun with music and dialogue from some films that share great love stories like:
• When Harry Met Sally, from Harry Connick Jr
• She’s The One, from Tom Petty
• Love Actually, some dialogue
• Drive, from Cliff Martinez
• Scott Pilgrim vs The World, some dialogue
• Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, from Jon Brion
• Rushmore, from Mark Mothersbaugh
We dive into the Concert Calendar. Every day more and more great concerts are announced in KC and we want to talk about and play some music from some upcoming “can’t miss shows.”
In addition to playing some songs from highlighted acts, we run through the concert calendars of several KC venues during the show.
Hear music from:
- two acts playing at The Midland Theatre, Sparks on July 8 and Sylvan Esso along with Indigo De Souza on August 18
- two acts playing at The Folly Theater, Hermon Mehari on February 18 and John Butler on May 3
- the Mountain Goats at Liberty Hall on April 9
- dakhabrakha, Ukranian folk-punk rockers, at Midwest Trust Center at Johnson County Community College on February 24
- The New Amsterdams at The Bottleneck on March 2
- The Way Way Back, playing “Valoween” at The Rino, along with You Monster You on February 11
- Kimbra, at recordBar on February 26
And at the top of the show, hear the new song from Mac Lethal about our Kansas City football team and we take a minute and give some love to the Grammys.

We wrap up 2022 with special guest Bill Brownlee and look back at the year in music. Bill Brownlee is a prolific blogger at There Stands The Glass, a longtime contributor to The Kansas City Star and KCUR 89.3. Through 2022 he’s logged hundreds of new albums that he’s listened to and he spent 125+ nights of 2022 out at shows seeing live music. He’s the biggest music nerd I know and we’re excited to have him on the show this week!
Sarah Bradshaw also joins us this week and we hear selections from these Kanas City musicians: Mister Water Wet, Flora, LeVellebkc, and Matt Villinger’s All Night Trio (featuring Peter Schlamb and Zach B. Morrow).

Additionally, this show wraps up our EIGHTH year of the Eight One Sixty, it’s our 417th show! I wanted to say THANK YOU so much to everyone that has tuned in and listened and to everyone at The Bridge for helping make this show happen - cheers everybody!
For the final TUNESday event of 2022, we asked David Luther to join us and sing a few holiday tunes. The interview and performance was live from the Beer Hall at the Boulevard Tours and Rec Center.
