Over the past several weeks we’ve talked about Music in the Park, Boulevardia, Make Music Day (which is TOMORROW!) and the new releases have been piling up!

On the show tomorrow we’ll plow through a dozen new releases from KC musicians and bands.

• We’ll kick things off with a contender for song of the summer from corey dies in the end.

• We'll hear a new pop song from Caley Rose, who was featured last week on KCUR 89.3 with a great supporter of KC music, Steve Kraske.

• Our old friends from Six Percent have a great new EP coming soon.

• The Way Way Back, slowing things down a bit on a new song and still doing everything right.

• Jo MacKenzie continues to impress us with more and more new music.

• New to us, Jerame Gray pouring out the emotions for those suffering in Ukraine.

• Fresh off the stage from Boulevardia and Juneteenth Fest, a new one from The Black Creatures.

• Some hip hop from Current exploring mental health issues.

• Another new single from one of my favorite (former) KC voices, Danny McGaw.

• Also new to us, music from Quinton Paige and Straight White Teeth, who both went to our show page and submitted music.

It should be a fun show. We’ll throw a little Boulevardia recap in there too, at the top of the show.

Next week, on Tuesday, June 28 we’re back at the Beer Hall at Boulevard Brewing Company with two special guests, Kat King and PURE XTC. In addition to being on the radio show from 6-7PM, they’ll each play a 30-minute set in the Beer Hall from 7-8PM.

We're back with our Boulevardia 2022 artist preview series, this week with Heidi Phillips of Frogpond! Heidi joins Chris live from the Beer Hall at the Boulevard Tours and Rec Center to perform a few stripped-down songs, talk about the return of Frogpond and their first album in over 20 years, "TimeThief."

Eight One Sixty went live from the Boulevard Tours and Rec Center to celebrate the lead up to Boulevardia 2022! Today's episode features Miguel Antonio of Run With It, performing live and talking about his podcast, the evolution of the band and his career and more. Today on the show we talk an upcoming event, Music in the Park, happening in Westwood Park at 47th and State Line on Saturday, June 11, 10AM-10PM. We get all of the details from one of the event organizers, Daniel Barickman with the West Plaza Neighborhood Association.

The event features a great lineup of KC musicians: The Phantastics, Bob Walkenhorst, Cassie Taylor, and a new project called Shakedown Strings (featuring Rick Willoughby and Clayton DeLong). Also on the bill is MiD, from Alexandria, VA and internationally known, world-renowned DJ, a pioneer of house music, creator of Mushroom Jazz, Mark Farina!

We jump on the phone for an interview with Mark Farina and I’ll do some serious fan-boying. I first heard Mushroom Jazz Vol 1 and Vol. 2 back in 1999 and I’ve been a fan since. Mark Farina will be in KC on Saturday, June 11, playing two gigs, first at Music in the Park at 3PM and then that night at The Ship at 9PM.

We also play music by the other acts on the bill and give you details about the event and let you know that The Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair is part of the event too!

We also hear a recently released single from Laura Noble that should be the official song for the next FIFA World Cup and a new remix from Grant Klein that will test the bass in your car or headphones.

If you're seeing this, it's likely that you're a music nerd (easy, that's a compliment) and I have to say, this might be might most "Pitchfork" show we've ever done. We play music from 11 acts, I only know three of them. The rest are from an impressive pool of submissions.

Chris celebrates the first show in May with acts coming to Kansas City!

We celebrate MORE new music from Kansas City musicians this time on the show! Our inboxes are spilling over with new music and we’re excited to share more new stuff with you.

We kick off the show with a brand new song from Jessica Paige, who is playing a special rooftop concert at Crossroads Hotel on Wednesday to celebrate her new single, and it sounds like her lineup is stacked with other great KC musicians!
