It's all about yesterday's brand new festival announcement, Innovation Festival this time on the show. The inaugural fest will happen in KC on Saturday, August 6 at Crown Center and features nine acts including six-time Grammy nominee, Black Pumas!

Also on the bill, they just played a massive show over the weekend at The Uptown, The Greeting Committee will once again take the stage in KC. And the list of festival performers goes on. The Regrettes, who are at Coachella this weekend and next, will be here. Two acts out of the Wichita area are on the lineup, Evann McIntosh and The Cavves. Out of Charleston, SC, Whitehall will bring their dance-y indie rock to Crown Center. And of course, great local representation by The Freedom Affair, Dreamgirl, and recently relocated to KC, MellowPhobia.

On this show we celebrate Black History Month!

Every Saturday this month on The Bridge we have been collaborating with different Black artists from Kansas City and handing over their airwaves to them, letting them share nine songs from nine acts that changed their life, it's called "Nine From Nine." For the 8160 this week I’m flipping that on its head, and I’m going to play my favorite song from these nine Kansas City acts and then run through the list of acts that changed their lives.

On the show we’ll hear from Reach, Radkey, Brass & Boujee, Sam Wells, FlareThaRebel, Jass, We The People featuring Eddie Moore, Kadesh Flow, and Paris Williams.

At the end of the show today I also take a minute to give some love to Kansas City’s own Morgan Cooper. Morgan Cooper is the creator, writer, and director of the new TV series Bel-Air on Peacock TV. It’s a re-imagined, new take on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. A few years ago you could find Morgan Cooper gigging around town at hip hop shows with this project, Barrel Maker and Lion Maker and he also did freelance work at The Bridge, filming different in-studio sessions. Now he’s in LA and he’s changing the game. On Bel-Air he’s playing music from KC acts, he’s showing off KC music as the actors walk through record stores, and he’s showing off artwork on the set of the show from KC artists like Warren 'stylez' Harvey. Much love to Morgan for showing off his hometown!

We dive deeper into the lineup for the 7th annual Boulevardia 2022! This year the fest will feature 70 acts playing on four stages, along with a silent disco all taking place on Grand Blvd around Crown Center. The massive lineup was revealed last Wednesday and on the show today we’ll dig a little deeper, talk about, and play music from some acts on the fest.
