Eight One Sixty is back this week with more new music from KC artists!
We're not even halfway through the year and KC musicians have already released more than 200 EPs/LPs/singles. It's amazing.
On the show this week we'll hear new music from 11 KC acts including Kate Cosentino, Caley Rose, Little Little (the new project from Drew Little), Bahroot (a project from Eric Fain), Sidelined Souls, IVORY BLUE, Shawn M. Stewart, Luke Petet, Andrew M. Olsen, MARCOTTE, and a rocker from Belle & The Vertigo Waves.
We'll try and plug upcoming shows by these acts as well, including:
And we'll make sure you know about Bahroot's dog, who is TikTok famous - Jeff The Mastiff - that dog's got 37k followers and 2 million likes!
It's all about yesterday's brand new festival announcement, Innovation Festival this time on the show. The inaugural fest will happen in KC on Saturday, August 6 at Crown Center and features nine acts including six-time Grammy nominee, Black Pumas!
Also on the bill, they just played a massive show over the weekend at The Uptown, The Greeting Committee will once again take the stage in KC. And the list of festival performers goes on. The Regrettes, who are at Coachella this weekend and next, will be here. Two acts out of the Wichita area are on the lineup, Evann McIntosh and The Cavves. Out of Charleston, SC, Whitehall will bring their dance-y indie rock to Crown Center. And of course, great local representation by The Freedom Affair, Dreamgirl, and recently relocated to KC, MellowPhobia.
We play music from all NINE of these acts on the show and give you more info about Innovation Festival. Also, don't miss the presale happening tomorrow (Wednesday, April 13) at 10AM for 24 hours, your password is BRIDGE at theinnovationfestival.com.
This time it's all about the concert calendar and our CAN’T MISS shows of the 2nd quarter of 2022. The concert calendar is overflowing right now with so many great shows and more are announced every day!

We also give some love to ConductorWilliams and congratulate him on his Grammy and we give some love to the Jayhawks for what they pulled off last night. We also have a new opening bumper from JNabe, full of Kansas City love.
It's somehow our 4th week in a row featuring all-new music from Kansas City musicians. We didn’t intend to do a month’s worth of shows featuring only new stuff, but we’re lucky because new music continues to flow into our inboxes.
Hear new stuff from The Creepy Jingles, Scruffy & the Janitors, The Whips, Lorraine-Dietrich, The Talking Trees, sadface, Jo MacKenzie, JNabee, Kye Colors, and Fritz Hutchison.
Another new one from David Luther, the guy responsible for the opening bumper to this radio show! He’s got a big album release show coming up on Wednesday, March 23 with Timbers at Westport Bowery, the newly remodeled and updated space in the back of Westport Flea Market Bar & Grill.
Also, hear one from Lava Dreams from 2021, that she just released a great new video for, “Simple Magic”. Part of the video was shot in Arches National Park in Utah.
Today on the Eight One Sixty is our third week in a row featuring ALL NEW music by KC musicians.
On the show we hear the brand new song from Making Movies and wish them well as they prepare to head to Austin, Texas for SXSW. We also hear new stuff from Rockababyrock, Brandon Estelle, Miki P, DRAKExTAYLOR, Brotha Newz - the Ustadh, Rue, Fire Beats Plague, Anson the Ornery, You Monster You, and Stick Attack.
Also, the debut single from a young Washington DC band, that’s headed to KC to play Boulevardia, they’re called MiD and most of them are 17 years old!
Also, the opening bumper of our show today is from David Luther and he's got a big album release show coming up next Wednesday, David Luther - Album Release Show at The Westport Bowery - make sure that's on your radar!
It’s another week of us celebrating and playing new and recent releases from Kansas City area musicians. We hear new releases from Jo MacKenzie, Jenna Rae, Molly Hair, Prairie Brigade, Colebroodmusic, and Brian Hurtgen. We also hear new stuff from these acts with upcoming gigs:
David Luther - album release show on Wed., March 23 at Westport Bowery
Back Alley Brass Band - album release show on Sat., March 26 at The Rino
The Burney Sisters - playing at Knuckleheads with Lily B Moonflower on Thursday
And because I love them so much, we kick things off with an old one from The Appleseed Cast, who along with Thursday/Cursive/Nate Bergman are at The Truman tomorrow night.
We hear brand new music from 11 different KC acts this time on the show. Several of these acts are brand new to us and they went to our website and submitted music for us to check out. Well, we liked what they sent in and now we want to share it with you!
On the show today we hear from Rockababyrock, Kid Computer, Kenny Batson, Calvin Haverkamp, Current, Love, Mae C., Amble Haunt, Carol Burgen, Deegan Poores, Static Phantoms, and a collaboration between JNabe and Julia Reynolds.
Also, the opening bumper of the show today is from The David Luther. David Luther has a brand new album coming out this month and to celebrate he’s got an album release show happening on March 23 at Westport Bowery, the newly named, recently updated venue in the back of Westport Flea Market. It should be a great show!
On this show we celebrate Black History Month!
Every Saturday this month on The Bridge we have been collaborating with different Black artists from Kansas City and handing over their airwaves to them, letting them share nine songs from nine acts that changed their life, it's called "Nine From Nine." For the 8160 this week I’m flipping that on its head, and I’m going to play my favorite song from these nine Kansas City acts and then run through the list of acts that changed their lives.
On the show we’ll hear from Reach, Radkey, Brass & Boujee, Sam Wells, FlareThaRebel, Jass, We The People featuring Eddie Moore, Kadesh Flow, and Paris Williams.
Also, I wanted to plug this Saturday, February 26 three of the acts on the show will talk about and play music from acts that changed their lives:
Eddie Moore 9AM
Kadesh Flow 10AM
Paris Williams 11AM
At the end of the show today I also take a minute to give some love to Kansas City’s own Morgan Cooper. Morgan Cooper is the creator, writer, and director of the new TV series Bel-Air on Peacock TV. It’s a re-imagined, new take on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. A few years ago you could find Morgan Cooper gigging around town at hip hop shows with this project, Barrel Maker and Lion Maker and he also did freelance work at The Bridge, filming different in-studio sessions. Now he’s in LA and he’s changing the game. On Bel-Air he’s playing music from KC acts, he’s showing off KC music as the actors walk through record stores, and he’s showing off artwork on the set of the show from KC artists like Warren 'stylez' Harvey. Much love to Morgan for showing off his hometown!
Another round of new #kcmusic on the Eight One Sixty! Peep new songs from Trevor Turla, The Greeting Committee, Stik Figa, Fritz Hutchison and more.
