For the first part of the show we’re joined by the fellas from Larsen. They just released a brand new EP and we get to hear the stories behind each song as we play the EP for you. 

After that we hear new music from Quixotic, whose new EP comes out on Friday and they’re part of a massive celebration called Reflecting Motion: A spectacular outdoor art experience at Union Station Kansas City on Saturday. We hear the brand new single from Jake Wells Music, maybe you saw him on The Voice last season - and we hear new music from Jaclyn Bell, from her new EP that came out a few weeks ago.

On this episode of the Eight One Sixty on 90.9 The Bridge, we welcome back Sarah Bradshaw! She’s been out since February, when she and her husband had a lovely baby girl. It’ll be great to have her back on the air!

We're going to talk about a massive craft and maker faire happening in KC on Saturday, May 11 called The 5th Annual Spring Swing!, part of The Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair series of craft shows. Three bands will be part of the event and we’ll hear from all of them: Betse & Clarke, a new project from Chris Hudson & Chad Brothers, and brand new music from Grand Marquis.

We’re also going to hear brand new singles from Me Like Bees, Berwanger, The Creepy Jingles, Lily B Moonflower Music, Wills Van Doorn and Simon Fink & The Wires Alternative String Duo.

And ICYMI, local musician/filmmaker Morgan Cooper has been receiving massive praise a video he created of his take of a reimagined and updated Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Last week he was interviewed by none other than Will Smith himself. We’ll hear some music from him and ConductorWilliams’s project called BLKFLANL.

This week's episode of Eight One Sixty will feature Merle Zuel, founder of the MerleJam Transplant Fund & Concert. Merle was a long-time door guy at Knuckleheads, and back in 2007 he had a heart transplant. Over the past decade, Merle became a registered nurse and formed this event to raise money for transplant recipients and to raise awareness for organ donation. The concert is this Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 at Knuckleheads.

This week's episode of Eight One Sixty will feature TWO guests. Cowboy Indian Bear is one of Chris's all-time favorite KC-area bands, and they’re performing a reunion show this Saturday, April 27 at The Bottleneck. It’s part of the big album release show for Hembree. The show is nearly sold out and should be an amazing night.

Then, we’ll be joined by one of the founders of a new organization in KC called Women on the Rise. Leah Watts joins us to talk about the nonprofit organization and their mission to educate, empower and elevate women in all aspects of music and the music industry. They’re hosting a special event on Saturday, May 11, and we’ll get the full story about the event and what they’re working to accomplish. In this segment, we’ll hear music from Leah Watts and Erin Eades.

We’ll wrap up with a song from a band on a great lineup playing a fundraiser show at miniBar on Saturday, April 27 for Speak Up KC, a local suicide prevention group. The show has been organized by Manor Records in honor of their friend Bennet Jones, and the lineup is Drugs & Attics, The Rubs, Mild Cats, Mouton, Golden Fleece and Momma's Boy.

It's one of the best days of the year for music fans and audiophiles as special limited-edition records are released, stores reveal tons of new inventory and a bunch of bands play FREE gigs from noon to night. On this show, we're playing music from several bands gigging on Saturday. We'll hear brand new stuff from Brandon Phillips and The Condition, just released as part of the 7" Too Much Rock series - you can catch them at Mills Record Company on Saturday. Also playing at Mills, we’ll hear from The Freedom Affair and The Greeting Committee (lead singer Addie Sartino will be playing a special set). We’ll hear from Hembree, who is about to release its debut album on Thirty Tigers Records; they’re playing at Vinyl Renaissance & Audio. We’ll hear from Instant Karma, who is playing at Revolution Records Kansas City and also Les Izmore, who is playing at Records with Merritt. So much music and so many bands playing.

And beyond RSD, we’ll hear from They Call Me Sauce, part of Nublvckcity, playing on friday at Replay Lounge and a brand new one by a brand new act named LyMerrick. Also, it’s PLEDGE WEEK and we hope you’ll consider pledging to the station.

Two special guests are stopping by this week's episode of Eight One Sixty! Erin McGrane of Victor & Penny stops by to talk about their big show this Saturday, April 6 at Californos, with Kyle Reid and the Low Swingin' Chariots. Then, Aaron Shinn of Lazy Projector will preview four songs from the band's brand-new EP, "Evoco," as they get ready for their album release show, next Saturday, April 13 at The Brick.

On this week's Eight One Sixty, Chris chats with Mike Alexander and Chris Wagner of Hipshot Killer. The band just released a brand-new album entitled "All This Time Is Ours." They'll be playing all the tracks on the album and share a few stories behind the songs. This week, the band is celebrating the album release with a show at miniBar on Saturday, March 30, with Arson Class and Midlife.

On this week's Eight One Sixty, Chris chats with the band Mess, as they get ready to celebrate the release of their full-length debut, "Learning How To Talk." They'll talk about their big show on Saturday, March 30 at The Rino, preview some music from the new album and hear some stories about it.

After that, we hear from two musicians who used to call KC home and are coming back for gigs — Supa Flowa tonight at The Encore at Uptown Theater and Payge Turner on Thursday at The Rino. We hear a new song from DeMaur, who is playing tonight at The Rino. We also hear the new single from Berwanger — it's so catch you'll be humming the chorus all night after you hear it. And if we have time, we'll throw in a little Metric as Emily Haines brings her band to The Truman on Thursday.

This week's Eight One Sixty kicks off with a big announcement about the Boulevardia 2019 lineup, along with music from some of the headliners! After that, Chris will chat with Sky Smeed, who is gearing up to release his new album, "Leaving Again."
