In a world that often asks us to move faster, do more, and push through discomfort, healing can begin by slowing down and listening. I believe that healing happens through connection—connection to the body, the nervous system, our emotions, and the deeper parts of ourselves that often go unheard in the busyness of everyday life.
My path into this work began with a simple desire: to help people find their way back to themselves. Over the past 14 years, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and emotional challenges. Along the way, I came to recognize that healing is not only about changing thoughts—it is also about reconnecting with the body.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, certified yoga teacher, hypnotherapist, and somatic practitioner, I integrate traditional psychotherapy with mindfulness, movement, breathwork, sound healing, and nervous system-informed approaches. My work is rooted in the understanding that our experiences live not only in the mind, but within the body as well.
This was a Happy Breath Mastery Hour podcast episode where Roberto Suarez interviewed Melissa Therese, a ceremonial breath guide and founder of Breathwork Worldwide and the Circle of Sacred Breath. Roberto explained that Melissa's work focuses on healing and expanded states of consciousness through intentional breathwork, ceremony, presence, and community. The session began with Roberto guiding a breathing exercise and introducing Melissa before asking her to define breathwork.
Melissa shared her journey from working in TV and film, including six years at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, to discovering breathwork after experiencing a profound healing session in Sedona that led her to become a facilitator.
She discussed her philosophy of making breathwork accessible and gentle rather than "hard work," emphasizing the importance of proper facilitator training and safety practices for both breathwork and plant medicine ceremonies.
Melissa explained her approach to integration and the need for Western practitioners to have proper support systems, sharing her vision of creating retreat centers in Costa Rica and Nicaragua while working to help others heal through breathwork and community ceremonies.
Roberto discussing breathwork practices and Johnny's journey into transformational coaching and breathwork facilitation.
Johnny shared how he discovered breathwork through martial arts and yoga, eventually developing the Re-Inspire Breathwork Methodology that blends breathwork with somatic release, yoga, and meditation.
They discussed breathwork techniques, including Johnny's recommendation for beginners to start by noticing their current breathing patterns using the CRISP method, and explored the concept of breathwork as a mirror for one's overall life experience.
The conversation covered Johnny's training programs, including a 9-week foundations course and plans for Level 2 facilitator training in Guatemala.
This was a breathwork session hosted by Roberto, featuring Frank Roser, a former American football coach who transitioned to breathwork coaching after discovering its transformative power in 2019.
Frank shared his journey from coaching in the US and Japan to becoming a breathwork practitioner and coach, explaining how he found breathwork as a way to process stress and emotional blockages after facing challenges in his coaching career.
The discussion covered practical breathing techniques for performance enhancement, including extended exhales for pressure relief and box breathing for focus, with Frank emphasizing the importance of consistent practice to develop breathing habits that can be accessed during high-stress situations.
Frank advised beginners to start with just 5 minutes of daily breathing practice and emphasized that breathwork can help people become more present, calm, and connected to their emotions before reacting to stressful situations.
The conversation concluded with Frank's vision for breathwork's future growth and his mission to help people reconnect with their essence and find more love and fulfillment in life through breathwork practices.
In this episode of Happy Breath Mastery Hour, Roberto interviewed Ryan and Julie Patrick, the founders of LifeSpark Creative, who shared their journey into breath-based resilience and performance practices.
Ryan, a firefighter and paramedic, described how he overcame severe sleep deprivation and burnout through breathwork, leading to the creation of LifeSpark with Julie.
They discussed the importance of functional breathing, the BOLT score test for measuring carbon dioxide sensitivity, and simple breath-holding techniques to improve health.
Ryan and Julie emphasized the power of controlled breathlessness as medicine, offering practical tips for listeners to enhance their breathing and overall well-being.
They also highlighted the transformative potential of breathwork in various aspects of life, from sports performance to emotional resilience. The episode concluded with a guided breath journey available on their website for listeners to begin their own CO2 journey.
