Election 2024 - Radio Catskill

Senator Peter Oberacker, currently serving his second term representing New York's 51st Senate District, is seeking reelection this November. 

Oberacker was first elected in 2020 amid the global pandemic and he previously held roles on the Otsego County Board of Representatives, where he chaired the Public Works Committee, served as vice-chair of the Administration Committee, and was involved in Human Services, Negotiations, and Inter-Governmental Affairs. 

Prior to that, he was the Maryland, New York Town Supervisor and served on the town board. 

This election, he faces a challenge from Democrat Michele Frazier.

Michele Frazier, the Democratic candidate for the New York State Senate in the 51st District, hails from Oneonta, where she was raised in her family's flower and greenhouse business. 

Frazier will face incumbent Republican Senator Peter Oberacker. 

A former Oneonta City Council member, Michele now resides in Delhi, balancing multiple roles: Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at SUNY Delhi, real estate agent, and mother of three sons.

New York Congressional 19th district stretches from Tompkins County in the West all the way to Columbia County, East of the Hudson and includes parts of the Catskills, Hudson Valley, Southern Tier, and Finger Lakes regions. 

Josh Riley is challenging incumbent Representative Marc Molinaro. This is the second time these two have faced off in a congressional race. 

The seat they are vying for is among the most competitive districts in the nation. Folks across the country are keeping an eye on New York’s 19th as it’s one of four New York seats that flipped two years ago,  giving republicans a narrow majority in the house.

Congressman Marc Molinaro, a Republican, has represented New York's 19th Congressional District since taking office in 2023. 

The district spans parts of the Catskills, Hudson Valley, Southern Tier, and Finger Lakes. 

Congressman Molinaro, who has a background in public service as a former mayor and Dutchess County executive, now faces a rematch in the 2024 election against Democrat Josh Riley, a Harvard-educated attorney and former congressional aide. Their 2022 contest was tightly fought, with Molinaro securing a narrow victory. 

Congressman Molinaro recently spoke with Radio Catskill's Patricio Robayo on local issues, setting the stage for another closely watched race.

Paula Kay, the democratic candidate for the New York Assembly, for the 100th District . 

Kay is an experienced lawyer who has served various town and planning boards throughout Sullivan County for many years, and also served as Aileen Gunther’s first Legislative Director.
She currently resides in Rock Hill, NY. 

Lou Ingrassia, a Republican candidate for the New York Assembly in the 100th District, has served as the Commissioner of the Town of Wallkill Department of Public Works since 2013. Raised on his family’s farm on Ingrassia Road, where he continues to live with his wife Jackie, Ingrassia also holds positions on the Orange County Water Authority and the Wallkill Emergency Management divisions. He will face Democrat Paula Kay in the election on November 5, 2024.

On Tuesday, June 25th, Republican voters in New York's 100th Assembly District, which covers most of Sullivan County and part of Orange County, will head to the polls for Primary Day. Early voting begins June 15th.
