On this episode of the Underground Movement Show, we're back with Gil K and the NOSI Music crew, as they reel in all the way from Spain and Honduras a NO REQUESTS and TRUE TYPE TRACKS label show-case, with XPANSUL (Plus 8, Trapez, Perc) and Loud Neighbor. Rounding out the festivities, NYC locals DuckHunter, Craft, and of course NOSI members Gil K and Hristo bounced their way into our hearts and ears, like they do.

We were lucky enough to catch the incredible sets from this Hurricane Sandy relief event, and now you can too! Can't get any cozier than this people - tune in and turn on!

    More about Loud Neighbor:

    http://www.loudneighbor.net/info

Loud Neighbor is a live techno projected created by STEEL5000 (USA) and Martín García Blaya (ARG). In 2005 STEEL5000 traveled to Madrid to study abroad for a year at the Fine Arts College in the University Complutense. Soon after her arrival she met Martín on the dancefloor in Madrid's legendary club, Coppelia 101. Martín had arrived to Spain from Buenos Aires 3 years before, working as a sound engineer in film and television. Together they begin to realize various video projects under the name W0RKT34M. In 2006, along with the guitarist Juan Proverbio they formed a techno-punk group, Isabel La Alcoholica. In 2007 STEEL5000 graduated from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and wins the Gelman Travel Fellowship. Hence in 2008 the couple moved to Argentina.

Shortly after settling into their new home, they give birth to Loud Neighbor, a project conceived as a self portrait in a neighborhood that was not ready for the noisy couple. During this time they debuted their live show in illegal parties and underground clubs in Buenos Aires, connecting well with the crowd and local artists. In the beginning of 2009 they got married and return to Spain. Back in Madrid they begin to record their first tracks under the wing of the Madrileño DJ and producer, Santi Xpansul, while showcasing their sound throughout Europe. In September 2010 they launched Loving The Alien, an electronic music interview series hosted by STEEL5000. The independent program grew worldwide, receiving a grand recognition from both the people and the industry. In October 2010, they began to release their music on True Type Tracks under the series W0RKT34M (TTWT) with the support of producers such as Joseph Capriati, Remute, Marcos In Dub, Tadeo and Alexander Kowalski. In 2011 Loud Neighbor returned to the Americas, playing throughout Argentina, Honduras, Guatemala and The United States.

Today Loud Neighbor continues to bother their neighbors while working on their new EP, The Fellonship, which will have a remix by the classic Detroit duo, Octave One, and be the first reference of W0RKT34M as an independent label.

Trilogy's in effect once again! On Episode 90 of the Underground Movement Show, we had the pleasure to join Giovani and company as they brought a roster stacked with heavyweights to one of our favorite underground locations in Brooklyn, the House of Yes - with Dela (Mindshake Records), Stephen Barnem (Sleaze, Bluefin), and Markus Mehta (Monique Musique, Circle)

    For more info, visit: ElectronicRhythm.com

    Dela

    Bio:

His music will undoubtedly suit its playing field - spanning anything from deep and sexy avant house to the jack and bounce of peak hour tech-house or techno. A keen sense for aesthetics and an ability to adapt are what make Dela who he is to this music. Always studying. Always looking forward. And most importantly.. always giving back. Intrinsic in EDM culture since the early-nineties, Dela's deep-rooted passion for music has always been in constant forward-motion. Early appreciations for the sounds and influences of Detroit, Chicago, and Berlin have paved a way for a continual focus on innovation and musical progression. This developing artistic sense has only been matched by his personal determination to grow hand-in-hand with the music itself.

Today, as Paco Osuna's label partner for Mindshake Records (based in Barcelona, Spain), Dela finds his passions immersed in the cutting-edge of the world's top techno and house arenas. However it is his love affair with the studio and DJ booth where Dela is able to express these passions artistically. As a producer, his signature concoctions of percussive and groove-based tech house have impressed aficionadi as found on labels like Colombia's 'The Room' and Argentina's 'Pild Records'. As a DJ, his sets have graced dancefloors at noteworthy venues home and abroad... most notably appearing on headlining and featured bills at major institutions, many of which falling on DJ Mag's Top 100 list, like Space - Miami, Beta - Denver, RISE – Boston, Smartbar - Chicago... and several other events, undergrounders, and label showcases throughout the globe, including headlining a night at Denver's 2012 all-American tech-artist themed festival 'The Great American Techno Festival'. As the sole American-ambassador to the sexy, energetic sound that Mindshake has branded worldwide, Dela has been on the move as one the US' most whispered names in tech house.

Welcome again to the Underground Movement Show presented by ElectronicRhythm.com. This week's visual podcast set comes from a recording of Mr. Mikkas which many of you know him as Djuma Soundsystem (Get Physical/EMI). We caught up with the DJ/Producer at a Propaganda Party held at the famed Sullivan Room in NYC! Join Djuma Soundsystem on this musical journey and, like always, catch music of the weekly spotlighted guests from the Underground Movement Show and other artists on the multiple pages of ElectronicRhythm.com and much much more!
    SULLIVAN ROOM PROPAGANDA! 043:

DJUMA SOUNDSYSTEM [GET PHYSICAL / EMI- NORWAY]:

..used to be two and now it's one. Norwegian DJ & producer Mikkas is flying the Djuma Soundsystem flag solo these days. The spirit of production and DJ style remains the same. That trademark of warm beats and melodies is alive and well both in the studio and on the road. The sound is between tech house, house, disco, and techno, with a lot of personality and humanity involved. This is music, and not just grooves! It's catchy, but still underground and it can entertain a festival going mad, as well as an intimate club.
Djuma Soundsystem had a major radio and club hit with "Les Djinns" (the single biggest selling track on beatport.com) and has proved to be much more than a one off, with releases like "This sound", "Atilla", "Small fries", "Zillion lights", "Bipolar", "Blizzard" and "Stoli", on well known indie labels, like Get Physical, Rebirth, Soundz, IO and Tool Room. They have been remixed by Uner, Tiger Stripes, Trentemøller, Martinez & Moby, to name but a few and Djuma Soundsystems music has been charted and supported by all the major tech house DJ's.
As Djuma Soundsystem, Mikkas has toured the world many times and played some of the best venues and crowds out there, clubs like The End (London), Space (Ibiza), Zouk SG (Singapore), Blue Frog (Mumbai), Kazantip (Ukraine), Villa (Oslo), Hardpop (Juarez), Nevermind (Sydney), Cielo (NYC), Stadium (Jakarta), Space (Miami), Watergate (Berlin), Kristal (Bucharest), or festivals like Fusion (Germany), Roskilde (Denmark), Reworks (Greece), Universo Paralello (Brazil), Hove (Norway), Free Fat Festival (Ukraina), Exit (Serbia), and the biggest gig of all - playing the last hour counting down to midnight at Baha beach in Rio on new years eve 2009, - in front of close to a million people!

We take off with another edition of the Underground Movement Show Visual Podcast Experience along with this week's guest Onda Skillet of AeroTropic. Based in NYC, Onda's unique style can really be taken and appreciated with his long dj sets where the tracks get a chance to develop and tell their story. We caught up with him when he played a selection of deeper tracks at the art gallery opening of artist Fumero. (http://www.fumeroism.com)
Though you will experience a great ride with this mix, it does not fully capture the broad musical tastes of Onda Skillet, where he is also known for throwing down power-driving grooves on the dancefloor. Keep up with Onda Skillet through his appropriate social media links!

    AeroTropic Music:

Onda Skillet's AeroTropic Music expresses his study and use of sound vibration and frequencies in his musical performances. “I research the effects of sound and how they influence us in our environment, depending on the complex symmetry of the vibration thus allowing a new positive influence in the body. For example: the ways sound frequencies vibrate the water molecules in our bodies influence us to feel certain emotions and redefined feelings. In performances, I tune out specific frequencies that vibrate brainwaves to a whole new level of symmetry. Just as essential oils like lavender trigger specific feelings and emotions, I use essential audio complexities to innovate the way we feel.”
Onda Skillet’s music is charged with profound emotion, penetrating the inner depths of the soul, and warming even the coldest of hearts. What begins as a time machine journey through your memories, evolves into a constant racing and harmonious vortex of sound.

We venture into another episode of the Underground Movement Show. This week we bring you a live recording during a 4-US-BY-US event at NYC's Z Hotel Rooftop with Mr. Kyle Geiger in the mix. Label owner of Cubera Records which devotes their direction to "a series of productions that carry the melodic presence of the deeper techno sound, while still maintaining the teeth needed for peak hours of the night." Kyle gives us a taste with this week's podcast of what to expect when Mr. Geiger takes control of the decks. We enjoyed the set that evening and we know you will too.

    Bio:

    Kyle Geiger
    Cubera///Drumcode///Soma///Droid///Sleaze///Perc Trax
Hailing from a region known for its basketball and corn, the emergence of an artist from Indiana such as Kyle Geiger is marked as seldom at best. He certainly is no stranger to the international techno arena, with releases on heavy hitter labels such as Drumcode, Soma, Perc Trax, and Droid. Refusing to rest on his laurels, Kyle continues to push the boundaries of his sound through the creation of his own label known as Cubera. Being his brainchild, Kyle has been able to push new musical concepts free of any outside limitations with the end objective being to create a more moody and memorable collection of productions. Kyle is not a producer first, DJ second, but chooses to look at both aspects of DJ and production as a whole; one is not complete without the other. Originally inspired by the harder, percussive stylings the techno sound featured on seminal labels from the late 90's, Kyle has witnessed the evolution of the genre as it morphed into a more accessible, groove based sound. Still loving the energy and power of the more straight forward side of techno while embracing the genre's changes, Kyle has refined his productions and DJ sets into what very well may be a new breed of soundscapes that pushes things forward for the next generation of techno to come.

We welcome Belgium's Tom Hades to this week's Underground Movement Show Podcast with a great set recorded at a NYC Trilogy event. Tom delivers the Techno sounds which has given him great fame in the Electronic Dance Music Scene with DJs, Producers and of course, the dancers. This set expresses the many years of dedication to the EDM Scene as Tom plays bangers from current releases to hidden rare gems. We hope you will enjoy this mix and look for the full video recording of his set as well within the Live Player of ElectronicRhythm.com.

     Bio:

Tom Hades started to discover and experiment with electronic music when listening to DAF, Kraftwerk, Front 242, ...
At the age of 15, he bought his first keyboard, the famous Casio CZ-101 and transformed his game-computer, Amiga 500, into his first DAW.
Quickly he got experienced with MIDI-integration and sampling functions, which gave him even more urge for buying/selling new material as addition to his current setup.
During the same period, his old schoolfriend, RedHead, was co-producing with Marco Bailey. He got in contact with Marco too which led them in 2000 to their first co-release.
And this was the start of a big period of releases, included the anthem of "I Love Techno" in 2001. Have a look at the discography for the complete overview ...
In the same year as I Love Techno, Tom started to do live performances. He got more & more experienced and started to play all over the world.
His live performance was fully appreciated in countries like Spain, Colombia, Brazil, France, Poland, Sweden, Mexico, Japan, Austria, Italy, Norway, Ireland, ... and on many known festivals like Nature One, I Love Techno, City Parade, ...
In the first period of 2002, Tom also produced his first solo release. In the next 3-4 years he continued to produce tracks on his own as well as his co-production with Marco on respected labels like MB Elektronics, Pornographic Recordings, Rhythm Convert, Northwest Dynamics, Invasion, Fine Audio, Patterns, Lupp, ...
In 2004, they decided it was time to take the next step, start a label. And so Rhythm Convert was born. Initially, the purpose of the label was to give an opportunity to new talents to release their stuff.
Guys like Axel Karakasis, Spiros Kaloumenos, Veztax, ... did a very good job to show the people what is was all about. Nowadays, the label is more aimed to produce electro-techno tracks and less oriented towards loopy techno sounds.
End 2004, they released their full album, Rude Boy, caused a stirr all over the world. The best proof was their live performance during Nature One @ Pydna were they literally "blew the place to kingdom come" !
His current releases on labels like MB Elektronics & Rhythm Convert are oriented in the same way his musical taste changes, more melodic and even sometimes more dramatic music with flavors of techno, minimal, tekhouse and electro.

Listen to the pre-show interview to know more about Gil K and his unique record label who has gained major popularity in the underground dance music community within the last years!

    Bio:

From the dark, cramped basements of the Lower East Side, to the cavernous loft spaces of Brooklyn, Gil K is well known in the notorious New York underground DJ scene for being a bona fide dance-floor destroyer. Whether the vibe calls for deep house, acid, techno, or cutting edge nu disco, he consistently pleases the crowds both at home and abroad.

Seasoned DJ, label owner, and event promoter, Gil K has been a key player in New York’s underground dance community for nearly a decade, whose international appearances include regular trips to the heart of Central America. Since his first pre-dawn DJ set at the Sunjam festival in Honduras back in 2004, year after year his musical sensibility earns him a place on the festival line-up, as well as shows in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. In 2005, Gil K closed out his year-long tour in Latin America and Europe with shows in Copenhagen and Barcelona.

Upon returning to New York City and having experienced the wide spectrum of dance music culture that stretches from the Atlantic to the Caribbean and from the Americas to Europe and back, Gil K founded the critically acclaimed record label NOSI Music. Since the launch of the label in 2006, NOSI has become a home for young artists the world over – from NYC to Tegucigalpa, and beyond, growing into a community of DJs, artists, dancers, and music lovers who embody the NOSI spirit. It was during his time touring in Latin America that Gil K was first envisioned the NOSI concept that has since become a lifestyle brand.

Since 2008, the label’s local and international artists play regularly in NYC, showcased in NOSI Music’s signature NO REQUESTS parties. By championing a future-forward blend of beats that land somewhere between house and techno, NOSI Music – the label and the parties – continue to grow in talent and popularity at home and abroad. Stay tuned for what’s coming next.

    PERSONAL MESSAGE:
I’ve already done what I have needed to do. I got no kids, nothing behind me any longer, no rear-view mirror… I’m a twig on the shoulders of a mighty stream. Ain’t nowhere to go other than forward and take each day as it comes. Namaste.

    Bio:
I was born on the south-west side of Chicago in the suburbs. Raised by a stern father, and a caring mother, I had very little male influence as mainly my family consisted of females. Growing up, I spent more time breaking things and putting them back together. Legos, video-games, and biking was my hobbies. While I never did well in school, I was always a hard worker. Multiple years were spent always working with public service, helping out the community, and learning from my father. From the age of 14, I’ve always had at least 2 jobs. My thirst for electronics, video-games, and other hobbies had to be fueled by my earned money.

With my electronics hobbies, and friends that were on my same intellectual level, I got into radio. I set up one of the most powerful CB radio base-stations at the age of 10 in a 30 mile area. As the hunger progressed I started to get into video and audio editing. My friends and I would record videos almost everywhere we went. We set up a crude studio where we mixed VHS, reel-to-reel, cassette, MP3, broadcast radio, Vinyl, VHF radio, police scanner, you name it, we mixed it. Eventually we even set up a multi-mile wide FM transmitter that broadcast around the neighborhood to our own channel.
