Thinking Big in Work and Life

Do you feel like your life is mediocre? Are you less than happy with your current state of affairs? Perhaps your goals are too small. Have you ever considered that maybe you could be and do much more than you’re currently demonstrating?

Thinking big is your ticket to a new life!

    Consider these ideas:

Avoid contentment. Have you ever noticed that when your life takes a dip below what you consider acceptable, you’ll work like crazy to restore the normal balance of your life?
For example, you’ll do plenty to replace your lost salary if you lose your job. However, you won’t work nearly as hard to double your salary.
Avoiding contentment isn’t the same as being constantly dissatisfied. That wouldn’t be an enjoyable way to live. However, if you want to achieve something more, it’s important that you strive to be more.
Big goals are exciting. Going camping at the state park for the 10th year in a row is fine, but odds are you won’t be that excited about doing it again. Your first trip to Rome might be another story. Few things feel better than excitement and anticipation. Big goals can provide you with both.
If your goals aren’t exciting to you, try aiming a little higher.
Big goals require real change and growth. Dropping five pounds or earning an extra $500 this year require little change and growth on your part. Losing 60 pounds or tripling your salary will force you to make some major changes.
If you want to become all you can be, you don’t have to join the military. You can just set and achieve big goals.
Thinking big reduces the number of distractions in your life. If you have something big that you’re trying to accomplish, you don’t have time to worry about the little stuff. You become more focused and mentally relaxed.
Having a significant objective in your life makes life simpler, and in many ways, easier.
Thinking big expands your world. Thinking big forces you to identify your strengths and weaknesses. It forces you to do things you’re not comfortable doing. Your world expands when you become comfortable with things that used to make you feel uncomfortable.
Big thinking can also expand your belief of what is possible. You can challenge limits. You need to view the world in a new way to accomplish big objectives.
Imagine the change of thinking required to develop the first airplane or to run a sub 4-minute mile.
Your goals might not be as grand, but your thinking will have to evolve in some way.
You’ll view common challenges in life as much smaller. When you’re trying to make your first billion dollars, a leaky faucet seems like small potatoes. When your plan for the evening is to watch Seinfeld reruns, a leaky faucet can make you think, “I just can’t catch a break.”

Thinking big does a lot for your enthusiasm, creativity, and ultimately your confidence.

It can also do wonders for your social life. Imagine telling a date that you’re working on a plan to dig wate

Is the Goal Really the Point?

Most of us would like a new car or a bigger house. Or maybe you’d like to climb Mount Everest. However, if you were instantly teleported to the top of Everest, you wouldn’t be as happy or fulfilled as if you actually climbed it. Our goals are more than just things we want to have or achieve. There’s much more to it.

You might think that you’d like to have a magic genie at your disposal. But it would be a lot less enjoyable than you think.

There’s more than meets the eye when it comes to your goals!

    Consider these ideas:

If you could have everything you want just magically appear, would you find that satisfying? If you’re like most people, you have a long list of things you’d like to see, do, and have.
Imagine you could just suddenly snap your fingers and be wealthy, play the piano, see Paris, lose 30 pounds, have a successful business, be married to the person of your dreams, and have three kids.
Imagine that and ask yourself how that would feel. If what you really want is to simply have all those things, you’d jump at that deal. However, you probably aren’t that excited when it’s presented this way.
The process of achieving something might be more important to you. Growing a business, finding your perfect romantic partner, and figuring out how to become wealthy are part of the journey.
Things don’t mean as much if you don’t have to work for them.
How do you feel the day after completing a goal? Think about a big goal you’ve achieved. It might be landing a particular job, graduating from school, or seeing Hawaii. How did you feel shortly after it was over?
Soon after your great success, you probably felt surprisingly blah about the whole matter. Why do you think this is?
Is it the struggle that matters to you? Maybe the struggle is what appeals to you. Maybe it’s not winning, but putting in the time, sweat, and tears that makes it all worthwhile. Maybe it’s the thrill of overcoming a challenge. You certainly don’t experience that when you don’t have to work for something.
Is it the personal growth that makes achieving goals satisfying? Is having a successful business exciting? Or is it learning new skills, developing the perfect sales pitch, and becoming a new and improved version of yourself?
To achieve a big goal, you must grow and develop yourself. Is this what really appeals to you?
Struggling leads to learning. If a new car is just handed to you, you lost an opportunity to learn how to earn, save, and invest your money. When you face challenges, you’re forced to learn. Either you study, or you make mistakes and corrections. Both are forms of learning.
Think about all the things you’ve achieved. Now, imagine all of those things had just been handed to you. How does that make you feel? Would you still be the same person if you’d lost 50 pounds by waving a magic wand versus changing your diet and working hard at the gym?

We get more from achieving go

Top Five Success Traits in the Super Successful and How You Can Develop These Traits Too

Even though wildly successful people all share certain traits, they're not super-human traits. You can identify and develop these traits if you truly want to succeed. Yes, with hard work and determination, you can become one of the super successful!

In your journey to achieve your goals, you'll invariably have to deal with challenges, and even setbacks, from time to time. Every successful person faces some hardship along the way. However, it's important to remember that those with the drive to succeed will stop at nothing until they achieve their success.

Here are the top five super success traits, along with tips to help you acquire them:

Strong beliefs in yourself and what you're doing. Put your whole heart into your endeavors and truly believe that you can succeed in what you set out to accomplish. If you run into a snag in the road, find something positive you can learn from the situation and use that to keep moving forward. If necessary, develop a new plan to overcome the challenge.

Think positively about yourself in all aspects of your life. In order to avoid being too critical, keep in mind that no one is perfect and accept that you'll make mistakes just like any other human. As valuable learning experiences, mistakes can actually benefit you.

Being organized and having clear plans. Successful people are organized. They know what they want and how they're going to get there. They develop clear goals with specific action steps to achieve them. Plus, they know where they are on that road to success at all times.

You can develop this skill by starting with your general organizational skills. Start small by organizing your desk space. Then organize your notes. Move onto planning out your success by setting clear goals.
What do you want? How are you going to get there? Make a detailed plan of achievable action steps that will take you all the way through accomplishing your goal. Then follow your plan. It's your map to success.

Sometimes the difference between success and failure is pure perseverance. There will be times when you're faced with difficult challenges. You may even feel like giving up. However, it's important to find the strength within you to pull yourself through, even in these tough times.

In order to develop perseverance, reflect on how you normally handle conflicts in life. Do you give up easily when faced with a challenge? Think of those times you gave up. What could you have done differently to encourage yourself to keep going?
After reflecting on your normal mode of operation, start changing your mindset about challenges. Instead of bemoaning the challenge, seek a way to overcome it so you can complete your task. Do this each day, with even small challenges, and soon you'll find yourself persevering through larger challenges with ease.

The drive to keep learning and achieving. Super successful

How to Make Yourself Accountable to Yourself
You might be accountable to your boss at work, but are you accountable to yourself? Do you regularly let yourself down or fail to live up to the standards you’ve set for yourself? You’re not alone.
Most people struggle to behave in a way that is congruent with their values and goals. Most people make plans that they never follow or set goals they never come close to achieving.
This is a frustrating and ineffective way to live. There’s no one to hold you accountable if you don’t do it yourself.
Be accountable to yourself and anything is possible!
Follow these tips to master the art of accountability:
Keep a to-do list. If you don’t have a plan, you can’t hold yourself accountable to anything. Start each day with a detailed plan of what you want to accomplish. This list should consist of things that need to be done to maintain your life, as well as things that will bring you closer to achieving your goals.
The first step to self-accountability is a to-do list that you take seriously.
Make a schedule. A list of tasks isn’t enough. When are you going to do each item on that list? What is most important? What needs to be done first? Create a schedule and hold yourself to it. Start each day with a plan.
Review your performance. Review your performance each day. You can review at the end of each task or review all of your tasks at the end of the day. Make note of your successes and failures.
What can you learn that will make you more effective?
What do you feel good about?
What embarrassed you about your performance today?
Reward and punish yourself as appropriate. When you do well, give yourself a reward. When you’re not performing up to your standards, punish yourself. Most people don’t have trouble thinking of rewards, but here are a few ideas for punishments:
Don’t allow yourself to watch TV for a week.
Give money to a charity you don’t approve of.
Don’t allow yourself to ride your motorcycle for a month.
    Embarrass yourself publicly.
Snap your wrist with a big rubber band.
Force yourself to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a week.
Make yourself watch a news channel that you despise.
Be clear on your goals. Your to-do list is largely dependent on your goals. It’s easy to sit around and accomplish little if you don’t have well-defined goals. You can’t hold yourself accountable without something to hold yourself accountable to.
What are your five most important goals? Make a list and review it at least once each day. Be able to recite them without thinking.
Have others hold you accountable. Whether you’re training for a marathon or trying to buy your first rental property, let others know your plans. You might be more inclined to take action rather than suffer the public embarrassment of failure.
Who will hold you accountable without trying to sabotage your efforts? Who really wants to see you be successful? This person could be a great accountability partner.
It would be nice to be assigned a drill sergeant to hold us accountable each day

How can you feel hopeful about your future when your health and your job may be at risk? It may sound far-fetched, but you can be upbeat in any circumstances.
Rather than denying reality, healthy optimism is about facing the facts and accepting your emotions.
The difference is that you generate a sense of hope to coexist with your doubts and fears.
Overcoming discouragement may require some effort, but the benefits are enormous. Hope increases motivation, so you’re more likely to persevere and succeed. For a fuller life, try these 14 ideas for creating a brighter tomorrow.

    BUILDING HOPE BY
    MANAGING STRESS
There’s a powerful connection between body and mind. When daily stress piles up, it can trigger inflammation and other health issues. It’s easier to feel hopeful when you adopt habits that keep you strong and fit.
    Try these ideas:
    1. PRACTICE SELF-CARE.
Maintain your health with a balanced diet and regular exercise. Stick to a consistent bedtime and aim for about 8 hours of sleep each night.
    2. THINK POSITIVE.
Look for the bright side in any situation. Notice the pleasant things that happen each day, like hugs from your children and colorful sunsets.
    3. LEARN FROM EXPERIENCE.
Disappointments and setbacks can work to your advantage when you view them as teachable moments. Figure out what you can do differently next time to achieve the outcomes you want.
    4. SHIFT YOUR FOCUS.
Empower yourself by concentrating on the factors that you can control. Let go of the rest. Sort out your priorities and devote your resources to the areas that will deliver the greatest return.
    5. SET GOALS.
Create specific and meaningful objectives to strive for. Goals provide guidance and help you to organize your life.
    6. TAKE BREAKS.
Leisure time matters too. Avoid burnout by allowing yourself plenty of downtime each day. Stop for a cup of tea or a few shoulder stretches.
    7. LAUGH IT UP.
Humor helps to keep you calm and happy. Watch funny movies and share jokes with friends.
    8. MEDITATE AND PRAY.
Your spiritual faith can be a major source of hope and motivation. Develop a daily practice and search for a community where you can enjoy support and friendship.
    3
    BUILDING HOPE BY PRACTICING KINDNESS
When you’re burdened by your own concerns, thinking about others can be a relief.
Taking your mind off your troubles for a while may help you get unstuck. You also gain confidence by showing yourself that you can have a positive impact on your world.
    Use these strategies:
    1. CULTIVATE GRATITUDE.
Being thankful provides a strong foundation for hope and other positive thoughts. Make a list of the blessings in your life. Let others know how much you appreciate them.
    2. GIVE GENEROUSLY.
Use your strengths and resources to help others. Make donations to charities and perform favors for your neighbors. Lend a hand to coworkers when they’re busy and smile at a stranger who looks sad.
    3. VOLUNTEER YOUR SERVICES.
Do you have extra free time lately? Contact a food pantry to see if they need help with sorting and distributio

    How Judging Others Hurts You

Judging others isn’t just a diversion. It’s toxic to you and everyone around you. Judging others is similar to gossiping. It makes others think less of you. You’ll also find that the harder you are on other people, the harder you’ll be toward yourself.

Judging others is a way of controlling your environment, but the negative repercussions make it a poor life strategy.

What do you gain by judging others?

See the consequences of judging others:

It’s a huge waste of time. Judging others accomplishes nothing. You could spend that time exercising, reading, listening to music, supporting a friend, or taking a nap.
People don’t trust you. If you’re informing others around you of your negative judgements, they won’t trust you in the future. They know it’s only a matter of time before you judge them, too.
Do you like to be around negative people? Do you trust them?
It makes you look bad. It’s poor form to criticize others behind their back. Even if you’re complaining about the quality of someone’s lawn, it’s still being negative and unpleasant. Well-adjusted people avoid spontaneously spouting negative opinions.
You open yourself up to judgement from others. When you judge people, they feel justified in judging you, too. Interestingly, you probably wouldn’t appreciate that very much! You’re likely to be treated in the same way you treat others.
Judging others negatively impacts your mood. You don’t feel better for long after you judge someone else. You’re acting on a negative impulse, which leads to a negative outcome and you carry that with you wherever you go.
You’re really just trying to protect your ego. The primary reason for judging others is elevating yourself. It’s easier to drag someone else down than it is to put in the work to make yourself a better person. Spend your time enhancing your life, rather than trying to bring others down.
Being hard on others is also being hard on yourself. Being critical of others leads to being critical of yourself. Your brain has a hard time distinguishing between being critical of other people and being critical of yourself. It will look for things to criticize if that’s what you teach it to do.
Judgement can be a form of selfishness. We tend to dislike those that have things we want but don’t have. We want it for ourselves, and we don’t want others to have it. This is because it shines a light on the fact that we’ve failed to attain it. Let others enjoy the rewards of their hard work.
You’re avoiding reality. Many of the things you dislike in others are things that you dislike about yourself. It’s easier to project these negative qualities out onto other people and acknowledge them at a distance. It’s a way of hiding from yourself.

Judging others hurts you more than it hurts them. It damages your standing with other people. You make enemies. You think less of yourself. And it’s all negative.

Rather than judge other people, make the necessary changes to enhance the aspects of your life that you’re dissatisfied with. Focus on positive changes to yourself and your own life, and life will become more fulfilling for you.

14 Habits to Live a Wonderful Life

Positive habits are powerful tools. They allow you to accomplish meaningful tasks with \\little thought or motivation required. With the right set of habits, you can accomplish nearly anything and be on autopilot much of the time.

Those people that put forth herculean effort are admired by our society. We love the runner that crawls the last mile of a marathon. However, a surer path to success is to do the necessary things each and every day. A little each day adds up to a lot.

See how your habits influence the quality of your life:

Save money. Financial challenges are among the most common stressors in our society. A tendency to save, rather than spend, can prevent a lot of anxiety. Imagine how much easier your life could be if you always had enough money in the bank.
Exercise. You’re stuck with the body you were born with. It only makes sense to take good care of it. Thirty minutes of exercise each day will boost your health and make you feel better.
Get enough sleep but wake up early. Only you know exactly how much sleep you need, but it’s probably more than you’re getting on a regular basis. It’s also important to start your day early and get off to a good start. This might seem contradictory, but it simply means that you need to go to bed earlier.
Drink more water. Your body is composed primarily of water. Drinking plenty of water each day makes good sense.
Meditate. Meditation has survived for thousands of years and has never been more popular. It contributes positively to both your mental and physical health. A daily meditation practice can reduce stress and bring you peace and serenity.
Be choosy about the people you allow into your life. People have the power to elevate your life or to destroy it. Choose wisely.
Be choosy about the activities you allow into your life. Spending your time on activities that matter to you brings greater meaning and fulfillment into your everyday life.
Follow the 80/20 rule. Some actions are a lot more effective than others. Determine which actions produce the most positive results in your life and focus your efforts on doing more of those and less of the ones that don’t add to your life.
Have a healthy breakfast. If you get up early and have a healthy breakfast, you’re already ahead of most of the population. A good morning gives the best opportunity to have a good day.
Know your priorities for the day. Hit the ground running by knowing exactly what you need to accomplish for the day. You’ll get more done and have to make fewer decisions during the day.
Review your goals. Keep your mind focused on your goals by reviewing them for a few minutes each day.
Spend time in nature. Take a walk in the woods. Sit in the park and breathe some fresh air. Ride your bike down a country road. Get away from people and spend some time with the plants, trees, and animals.
Be grateful. Practicing gratitude each day can help to prevent stress and depression. Reminding yourself that there are good things in your life brings your focus onto what’s great about your life - and attracts more of the same.
Have a morning routine. An established morning routine can save time and get your day off to a strong start.

Take a few minutes and consider your goals and current challenges. What are a few habits that would be very helpful to have? Ask yourself what would happen if you engaged in those habits regularly.

It’s easy to see how much influence positive, effective habits can have on your life. Choose habits that support your dreams and yo

Have you ever felt that you are in a place, that although it’s good, and you are doing okay, you just KNOW it’s not where you’re supposed to be? Not what you were designed for? It’s not your destiny?
Frustrating isn’t it? And all the while the clock is ticking, time is passing, you’re getting older, and STILL you have that feeling.
What are you to do? Surely you can figure it out. You’re smart. You’ve got a good handle on life, so why can’t you figure it out? Why is it that although you can see clearly what you are NOT supposed to be doing, you have no idea what you ARE destined to do?
What if there were a simpler, more direct way of knowing what you should be doing with your life that required nothing more than for you to pay attention to just TWO things as you go about your daily routine?
    These are those two things...
    #1. AWARENESS
Thinking isn’t the answer. If it was, you would have found the solution a long time ago. So, avoid spending your time trying to come up with the answer. Just pay attention to what and who shows up in your life with monotonous regularity.  The longer you pay attention the easier it becomes to identify what you should be doing. This is because it has been showing up in your life, most likely for years.
However, you’ve been either setting it aside or dismissing it, because you cannot see how it can be done, how it can make enough money, or maybe you don’t have the experience for it.
    For example:
    ● When you’re on social media, what stories are you drawn to? What do you read the most? What do you comment on the most?
    ● What about TV? When you’re scrolling the channels, which ones do you stop at the most, go back to the most, and watch the most?
    ● If you go to a bookstore, what sections do you visit the most? What books do you reach out for the most? What books do you read the most?
    ● When you meet people, either in person or over the internet, what topics of conversation do you find the most engaging?
    ● What interviews do you enjoy the most on YouTube? What Podcasts do you find that you relate to the most?
If you pay attention, you’ll see a pattern emerge about what and who you resonate with. You’ll soon identify what it is that draws your attention. You’ll notice what intrigues, fascinates, or inspires you.
Start taking notes about what continues to show up in your life that you can relate to, or what you keep coming back to.
The penny will drop that these same things have been showing up for years. They have been knocking on your door for a LONG time!
Make a list of all the topics that show up in your life on a regular basis. Put the most compelling at the top. These are the ones that are knocking at your door AND ringing your bell.
Maybe it’s TIME - time to let them in.
    Which brings us to….
     #2. FEELINGS
Next, seek clarity. How do you feel about those topics that show up with regularity?
    Ask yourself these questions:
    ● What is it about (topic) that gets to me?
    ● Why does it get to me?
    ● How long has it been getting to me? (Much longer than you thought, right?)
    ● If I got fully engaged in THAT, how would that make me feel?
    ● What action can I take RIGHT NOW that would m

    Introduction
It’s been said that successful people are just ordinary people with extraordinary habits. This might seem rather mundane.

Most of us were either taught or came to believe that success is a rare combination of talents that only a few people are lucky enough to be born with. Each of us knows someone successful, but can’t quite put our finger on why they’re so successful.

Could it just be the right habits?

It can. But it’s not just having the positive habits. It’s avoiding negative habits, too. Unsuccessful people are just as skilled, only they’re skilled at avoiding success by engaging in poor habits.

Over time, it’s your habits that ultimately determine your success.

The good news is that habits are learned behaviors. Just as you learned to brush your teeth or get out of bed each morning, you can learn the habits of success.

The bad news is that habits can be tricky to install and maintain. Bad habits are hard to break. However, if you can enhance these two skills, you can live the life you’ve always wanted.

Before we get started, let’s consider what a habit actually is.
