Well it's been One Year since I started this Podcast. July 1, 2020 was the release date. I felt let to take a episode to celebrate and reflect on this accomplishment. Allot of times in life we are so busy on the run jumping from thing to thing, we don't take a moment to pause and reflect. So for this episode I wanted to have a lighthearted fun time as I share what 1 year has been like. I invited my daughter Marisa to come back on. When she's around it's always a fun and silly time. If you heard Marisa on Episode 13 she promised that she'd do a cartwheel the next time she came on, and she kept her word! This was captured on my Instagram page. In this episode she interviews me. We chat honestly about how we effect each other, and laugh allot! Thanks for listening, hope you enjoy our shenanigans. In this episode we will look at how you are treating yourself. This topic was on my heart after working with so many people who mistreat themselves. As you listen to this episode, I encourage you to ask yourself some genuine questions. Are you aware that it is okay to miss the mark sometimes? If you have a lifestyle of having negative self talk, or beating yourself up, this episode is for you. Sometimes we are unaware that we are miss treating ourselves. Harshness doesn't work with others, and it certainly won't work for you. You get to determine what you think and what you believe. You can make a decision in your mind and in your heart to be kind to yourself. I'd love to hear how this episode effects you, hit me up, my DM's are open on Instagram. In our journey through this life we are all effected by a lack of grace, in one form or another. Where you raised in a rigid, critical, punishment environment? Or maybe you weren't but yet, you treat yourself like that, or treat others that way? In this episode my good friend Jane Boeckelmann and I share our own journey of what it is to have Grace. We come to the table exposing our own mistakes in hopes to encourage you to give yourself permission to fail and grow. Allowing yourself to fail is the beginning of learning to win. People cannot flourish where there is no forgiveness. It's my hope that you are encouraged and feel comforted by this episode. I'd love to hear how this episode effects you. Why are the masses so darn passive? I found myself pondering this question a few years ago. However in recent years, I have learned how and why people are passive. Now it makes sense. I invited my good friend Anthony Coltman to share his heart and knowledge in the area. He's an expert when it comes to impacting people with truth, packaged in love. Passivity effects everyone. Passivity is a relationship issue, and shows up allot in the relationships that matter the most. Maybe it's you, or someone you love that is passive. If you are interested in any type of personal growth check out this episode. We unpack passivity in a non judgmental way. If you have any pain or disappointment with this topic in any way, you will want to listen to the end. Many of us have formed habit patterns of self judgement and harshness towards ourselves. Often we have given ourselves up to it. If this has been your experience, or that of someone you know, what does this create inside of us? Is it helpful? Harshness does not benefit us or others. Self judgement and having rigid expectations creates a life of pressure and performance. Rather then being connected to self kindness. Some believe that kicking ourselves and forcing ourselves to change is necessary. In this episode you'll hear about a different approach from my wholeness coach Val Coltman. She shares some of her own story and how she lives a lifestyle of being connected to her own heart through gentleness. Val is a Senior Director and one of the founders of TwentyR. The purpose of this ministry is to provide people with experiential opportunities to encounter God in order to be whole. Everyone wants to be seen, heard, known, supported and loved. Have you had times in your life where you didn't have this? If we are all being honest, that'd be a big fat YES. When we grown up without a sense of belonging it creates an internal belief within our selves that we are alone. This negative alone, survival, stuck, belief then drives us to make destructive decisions. In this episode I invited my friend Eric to share his journey to wholeness. He is a real as it comes. His authenticity comes from his willingness to self reflection. Eric's Self Awareness is straight up GOALS. Have you ever heard someone be vulnerable and just own their life? As in, take responsibility for their own choices and want to actually grow and change? If you have't, get ready. In this episode you are welcomed to pull up a chair and sit in on this chat. Folks, this episode is deep and powerful. If you are interested in personal development in anyway, you are in for a treat! Having received so much positive feedback from Emotional Awareness Pt. 1 with Justin Johnson, I had to bring him back! We had way to much fun creating this episode. I believe it's important to keep a light heart when looking at hard things. We connected to bring you some of our own examples of Emotional Awareness. Hear how Justin responded to a angry wounded teen as a result of his internal awareness, and the posture of his heart. I share a simple example of how to teach a toddler emotional awareness. If you think about it, most of us were never taught this life skill. If this is true for you like it is for me, rest assured, there is hope. Everyday that you have breath in your lungs is another day to learn, and grow. It's never to late, and it always matters. Because YOU matter. In this episode we refer to Brene Brown, Bob Golf, and Simon Sinek. Below are links to connect you with their resources. Brene Brown: A Call to Courage https://www.netflix.com/title/81010166 . Justin Stands at 6'5. I am clearly a starting point guard at 5'0. When I stand next to him it's hilarious! I couldn't be happier to have him join me for this episode on emotional awareness/emotional intelligence. Through this organic conversation we unpack the humanity behind emotional awareness and explain what it is. Emotional Awareness is key in any successful personal or professional relationship. We give context to why some of us avoid our emotions, and share some of our own stories. You'll hear us laugh a lot in this show. I really value discussing hard topics while staying lighthearted. Spoiler alert, neither one of us are neuroscientists. I know you're shocked at this revelation, but it's true. Justin and I both have a high value for this topic and although we are imperfect, we make an intentional effort to continue to learn and grow our emotional intelligence. As a coach this topic is a regular part of my life both learning and executing it. Please enjoy, rate, and share this episode with someone that you care about. I'd love to hear from you about how this episode affects you. My dms are open on Instagram. Be sure to follow me at #elevatelifewithangie. Remember you are strong and you can do hard things!
Yes, I am STILL talking about Boundaries. I know four episodes might seem like allot, but its worth it y'all. This one was super fun to record! Hit play to enjoy my oldest daughter Marisa as she joins me with lots of laughter along with transparent honesty about how she grew up. Hear me spill tea about myself. I am fully able and willing to acknowledge my own screw ups, and I allow her to be honest about how I have effected her. We have discovered that this is what healthy looks like. By not hiding our pain, and mistakes it has helped us both to grow. Millennials will relate to Marisa's story and some of you parents will find yourselves in my shoes. Listen and laugh with us as we keep things real and have fun! Make sure to rate this episode, subscribe, and share! Follow me at #elevatelifewithangie "Broccoli is nice."
Imagine being in a teenager who already felt like you were stupid, not enough, and a failure. Imagine being in a classroom when a teacher speaks to you like you are a failure. This teenager feels alone, stuck and worthless, then a teacher who's suppose to be FOR you judges and shames you. This scene was a real situation that Analisa found herself in. In this episode you'll hear two personal stories from 19 year old Analisa (my youngest daughter). She shares how she used her voice to speak up when she was mistreated by an adults. Sometimes we can set a boundary quietly through gentleness. However sometimes it takes rising up with courage and words to set boundaries. As a young female Latina, standing at 5,1 sometimes people can write you off. I know this to be true. Despite this reality we face we are discovering our value and worth. This does not mean we fight EVERY fight, and argue all the time. It does mean, we are growing in our ability to know when to speak and when not to. We can't control how someone else treats us, but we can decide how they will effect us. My hope is that as you check out this episode you will be empowered to discover what you are capable of. Let's learn from each other and grow upwards in all things! Follow me at #elevatelifewithangie and remember you are smart, you are strong and you can do hard things!
