Our guest today is Aaron Hopkinson. He is the coach for the IronCowboy race team. I met Aaron back in the summer of 2020 when I hired him as my coach to train me for my first six day run. Over the past seven years he has completed some amazing adventures with his team and I brought him on today to share those experiences. His first big adventure was back in 2014 when he helped crew the IronCowboy James Lawrence for his 50/50/50 , that’s 50 Ironman distance triathlons in 50 states in 50 days. Incredible accomplishment. His next big journey was back in 2019 when he teamed up with James and two other racers to compete in the Worlds Toughest race in Fiji. It was a 10 day multi stage race covering over 600 km. That leads us up to his most recent adventure starting March 2021 win the Iron Cowboy race team started the Conquer 101. That is 101 full distance triathlons in 101 days, this time staying in one city and being able to focus fully on recovery and racing. Aaron decided to do the bike portion of the 101 every day which is 114 miles everyday for 101 days, that came out to 11,514 miles over 101 days. Basically like crossing the United States almost 3 1/2 times on the bike. It’s an amazing accomplishment in itself.
I highly recommend you check out his coaching program he knows what he’s doing.

Sean Lake grew up in Winchester, Massachusetts, before moving to Utah to become a professional snowboarder and general ski bum. Once he got that out of his system, he graduated from the University of Utah, using that degree to join Burton Snowboards, work as Shaun White’s Team Manager, and land a spot as the Director of Sports Marketing at DC Shoes. After decades in action sports marketing, Sean co-founded BUBS Naturals, a line of collagen peptides and other all-natural supplements that help athletes at all levels perform and feel their best.
Sean named BUBS Naturals after his childhood best friend Glen “BUB” Doherty, a Navy SEAL who was killed in Benghazi, Libya on 9/11 in 2012. In addition to remembering Glen for the patriot he is, the BUBS ethos centers around the passionate and adventure-seeking life that Glen lived. Sean and the BUBS Naturals family further honor “Bub” by donating 10% of all profits to charities that support veterans.
A devoted husband, father, and fitness fanatic, Sean now lives in Encinitas, California, where he can ride his bike to work and still do a quick surf check from the office.

I have a great episode for you today. If you don’t know already I picked up a JV high school golf coaching job three years ago and have really enjoyed working with the kids. At one of our recent matches I ran across two guys out there that were watching the varsity teams and we chatted briefly but I got there info and found what they did very interesting. The company is called Athletes Dream. They help kids with the process of getting Athletic & Academic Scholarship programs all over the world.
I wanted to interview them to give younger kids and parents a resource to guide them through the process of getting scholarships and picking colleges.
I interview founder of Athletes Dream Ash Smith and Operations Manager @nic_athletesdream -Nic Wishart about the process of picking the college that best suits you and look for the best scholarship opportunities.
