  • Why You Should Say No More Often

For the time that is ours to share, I want to talk about why it’s important to say “no” more often and how to do it, in a nice way. On many occasions, not knowing how to say no can be one of the greatest enemies of your time. This happens to all of us and as we continually put other people’s happiness, want’s and needs before ours. Putting the satisfaction of other people above yours is admirable if you do it on purpose and for the right reasons. However, it’s not a good idea when you stop living your life to please others people.

Now the big question is this, why do people do this? There are a few reasons, why this happens:

(1). They want to be helpful.

    (2). They fear rejection.

(3). To show respect toward others.

(4). They fear and/or just don't like confrontation.

(5). They have sense of guilt when saying no.

(6). They fear losing out on future opportunities.

How can you handle these situations:

(1). You must be clear about your commitments, know yourself and act with integrity. Put your priorities, projects, and personal interests above anything else. If what they propose to you has nothing to do with them, just say no to it.

(2). Value your time. Saying no to something allows you to say yes to a ton of other things that you really care about and need to do. If you show others that you value your work, your time, and your priorities, contrary to what you think, they will respect you more for it. If you accept everything you are asked, you are not yourself, you do not evolve as a person, you do not improve. If after saying no, your relationship with that person ends, it wasn’t a sincere relationship anyway.

(3). Don’t make up excuses. If you do, the situation will be repeated constantly. You don’t even have to give explanations. You are the owner of your time. Before accepting something, think about the implications. How much time will you need? How will it affect your professional, personal, and family life? What will be the cost? What other projects are you going to have to sacrifice?

TAKEAWAY: Learn to be assertive, to value your life, and always look for relationships with good fundamentals. Learning how to say no is a great favor you can do to yourself. You’ll reduce your work overload and your level of stress, and you’ll have time to do what really matters to you. And the best way to learn how to say no is to practice so, go ahead, don’t be shy!

  • What Separates Successful People From Everyone Else?
Here are just a few things, that separate successful people from everyone else:
(1). They value their dreams and goals, and they don’t focus on pleasing other people or hitting unrealistic goals.
(2). They focus on the end result, and not the obstacles that stand between them and their goal(s).
(3). They fall-down but they get back up. They learn from their “falls” and typically don’t make the same mistakes again.
(4). They don't sleep on their lives and careers. They keep asking "What do I need to be doing next?" They come out of their comfort zones and refuse to settle. They know their worth and they know they deserve better than what they have now. They live in the moment and not for the moment.
(5). They get frustrated but instead of shutting down, they find reasons not to give up. Understand that frustration is a given, but you must know how to handle it. You must find an outlet, to keep going and not lose sight of your vision.
BONUS: You are among the land of the living, you have breath in your body, you have your health, life, and your strength. You have activity in your limbs, clothes on your back, a roof over your head, shoes to wear and family & friends that love and care for you. But most importantly, God loves you and He is with you every step of the way. You are never alone, and don’t you ever think you are. Make sure every step you take, is a step in the right direction. The rest of your life is waiting for you!

  • How To Set Realistic Expectations For Yourself
Welcome back to another Podcast. Today's topic is all about how to set realistic expectations for yourself.
Everyone has expectations for themselves. We often assume these expectations are reasonable, yet many of them are not. We expect to work all day, without taking any breaks. We expect to lose weight, without eating right and exercising. We expect to have high energy every day. We expect to experience the same emotions (calm and contentment) all the time. We expect ourselves to be fearless, all the time.
We set high expectations because “we idealize the ‘perfect’ outcome.” We assume that in order to feel successful, we need a specific result. We need to get the promotion, or we’ve failed. We need to get an A+ on our test, or we’ve failed. This is a hard way to live, because it creates a lot of needless pressure. Even if we do reach the carrot that dangled in front of us, there’s always another bigger carrot around the corner. It never stops. We never stop and it’s exhausting. Here are tips that can help you:
(1). Examine The Expectations Of Yourself.
(2). Reconsider Your Expectations For Others.
    (3). Relax Your Expectations.
“You are your own worst enemy. If you can learn to stop expecting impossible perfection, in yourself and others, you may find the happiness that has always eluded you.” ―Lisa Kleypas, Love in the Afternoon

  • Do It Afraid
Hi and welcome back to another Elevator Talk with Michelle. For the Time that is ours to share, I want to talk about how to do it afraid.
Here are five techniques that will help you overcome fear in your daily life:
    1. Start Small. Fear comes in many shapes and sizes. Facing it doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. No matter how large or small your fears may seem, scaling down to a more manageable size will be beneficial. Slowly step out of your comfort zone and begin moving towards your goal.
    2. Have Faith. While achieving your goal may not happen on your preferred timetable, it is important to have faith that time will bring success. Trusting that achievement is not only possible, but probable will help soften your fears.
    3. Write It Down. Writing in a journal is very helpful when trying to overcome your fears and to document how you feel as you are dealing with your fears.
    4. Accept What Happens Or Doesn’t Happen. You must accept that you can’t force anything! The Dalai Lama said, “If you have fear of some pain or suffering, you should examine whether there is anything you can do about it. If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry.”
    5. Let Go. Once we have accepted what may or may not develop, we need to detach ourselves from the outcome. Letting go of our fears allows us to focus more on the present moment and less on the fear itself.

  • Nothing Catches God By Surprise
Hi and welcome back to anther Elevator Talk Podcast! For the next few minutes that is ours to share, I want to talk about how NOTHING catches God by surprise.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28 NKJV
    · God Holds the Future and His word says “I know the Plans I have for You.”
    · You were designed by God with gifts and talents.
    · You have the DNA of God inside of you.
    · A master plan for your life has already been determined.
    · There is a season of preparation assigned and a season of destiny designed.
God’s Plan is to Prosper You, Not to Harm You. God’s Plan is twofold: Hope and a Future.
    · He gives hope with “handfuls on purpose.”
    · He gives hope by sending us a word.
    · He gives hope by renewing His mercy every morning.
    · He gives hope by comforting us with the Holy Spirit.
    · He gives hope by giving us a spiritual blessing.
    · He gives hope by giving us an uncommon peace.
The second part of God’s plan is about your future.
    · Sometimes you just have to praise God on credit, because of His reputation.
    · God already has plans for your future that you are being prepared for. You don’t see them yet, but you are in training for them right now.
    · You are not figuring out your future, you are discovering it.
    · We don’t know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future.
    God promised….
    · To give you beauty for ashes.
    · A Garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
    · Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
    God still has…
    · The right stone to kill your giant.
    · He can still close the mouths of the lions.
    · He can still bring a nation to it’s knees.
    · Don’t give up on God! Nothing takes Him by surprise.
    · He has a “come back” for every “set back” in your life.
    · Stay in faith!
God will finish what he started. The moment God put a dream in you, He set a completion day.
    · God is the author and finisher.
    · God is a God of completion.
    He is a finisher.
    · When God was creating the earth, each day, He kept working on it until He could say, “that’s good.” God is doing the same thing in your life. He’s not going to stop working in your life until He can step back and say, “that’s good.”
    · It may not look good today, but God is not finished yet.

  • God Can Use You
Hi and welcome back to another Elevator Talk Podcast! I am so excited about today's topic, as I truly believe that God can use all of us. Here are four ways that God can use you today:
    1. Encourage Someone.
    2. Give To Someone.
    3. Visit Someone.
    4. Thank Someone.
    Conclusion:
Noah got drunk, Jonah ran from God, Jacob was a deceiver, Moses had a speech impediment, Peter swore and denied Jesus three times, David was an adulterer and a murderer, Elijah was suicidal, Rahab was a prostitute, Joseph was innocently thrown into prison, and let’s not forget Lazarus, who was dead. Do you still think God can’t use you? God can use you in these four areas and many other ways today to glorify Him. Everyone can be used by God, no matter who they are. If you are listening to this Podcast, God can use you.
