  • S6: INTRO: My double [work] life and how my dollars work for me

I’m back with another season here on the Elle Potential Podcast and tonight I talk about breaking free from antiquated  concepts that were once frowned upon in the work force.

On the episode, I talk about why you shouldn’t feel ashamed of stepping into a position of authority to take charge of increasing your financial well-being.

With the cost of living being on the rise,  side hustles have become the new norm.

43% of full-time employees in America say they now have a lucrative side hustle.  That’s almost half of the workforce.

If order to achieve financial freedom, you need to increase your level of financial literacy.

Educating, empowering, and harnessing yourself with experience enables you to grow your assets and multiply your streams of income.

  • Follow your plans, not your mood - A candid convo about what influences this

On the episode, we talk about what science has to say about HORMONES and BEHAVIOR. Hormones play a big role in our lives.   As women, our bodies go through 4 different phases each month.

So let's talk high-level about how our hormones:

    • impact our moods
    • challenge our balance
    • heighten our response and reactions
    • prevent us from using our best judgement

The menstrual cycle typically consists of four phases: menstrual, follicular, ovulatory, and luteal. Here's how each phase may affect behavior:

    1. Menstrual Phase (Days 1-5):
      • Hormones: Estrogen and progesterone are at their lowest.
      • Physical Symptoms: Menstruation, fatigue, and lower energy levels.
      • Behavioral Impact: Some individuals may experience mood changes, irritability, or fatigue. Emotions may be more variable during this phase.
    2. Follicular Phase (Days 6-14):
      • Hormones: Estrogen begins to rise.
      • Physical Symptoms: Increased energy levels and a generally more positive mood.
      • Behavioral Impact: Improved mood, higher energy, and increased social interaction. Cognitive abilities may be enhanced.
    3. Ovulatory Phase (Days 15-17):
      • Hormones: Estrogen peaks, and there may be a surge in luteinizing hormone (LH).
      • Physical Symptoms: Increased libido and possible mild bloating.
      • Behavioral Impact: Higher confidence, enhanced communication skills, and an increased interest in social activities. Some individuals may experience an increased attraction to potential mates.
    4. Luteal Phase (Days 18-28):
      • Hormones: Estrogen decreases, and progesterone increases.
      • Physical Symptoms: Possible bloating, breast tenderness, and mood swings.
      • Behavioral Impact: Some individuals may experience mood changes, irritability, and heightened sensitivity. There may be increased cravings for certain foods and a tendency to seek comfort.

It's important to note that not everyone will experience the same behavioral changes during each phase. Additionally, factors such as stress, lifestyle, and overall health can also influence how the menstrual cycle affects behavior.

  • From the Boss Babe Era to Lazy Girl Jobs.. What Do Women in the Workforce Really Want?

On the episode, we talk about the lazy girl job phenomena that is shifting the landscape of the workforce and how women think about their jobs.

I originally was against this newly coined term, the idea of "lazy" sounds disempowering and demotivating. I initially jumped to the conclusion that this movement would influence driving women away from professional pursuits and interestingly enough a recent Gallup study found otherwise.

Women are actually entering the workforce in record numbers.
So how is the lazy girl job movement shifting the professional landscape? We talk about this on the episode and explore what women really want.

In today's conversation, we talk about the importance of understanding the shifting workforce trends to maintain a competitive edge.

  • Obsessions as the ultimate hype

On tonight’s episode, we talk about the idea of "obsessions" as the ultimate hype. This ideology highlights the transformative power of intense passion and dedication.

I dive into my perspective about being obsessed with the things that you want.  Intense passion and dedication can lead to remarkable achievements and generate significant excitement or interest.

    1. Achieving Excellence: Obsession often involves an unwavering commitment to a particular goal, project, or pursuit. This level of dedication can drive individuals to excel in their chosen field, as they are willing to put in the time, effort, and hard work necessary for success.
    2. Passion and Motivation: When someone is genuinely obsessed with something, it is often driven by their deep passion and enthusiasm for the subject. This passion can serve as a powerful motivator, keeping them focused and determined even in the face of challenges.
    3. Inspirational Stories: Many successful individuals have been described as "obsessed" with their goals. Their stories often serve as sources of inspiration, motivating others to pursue their own passions and dreams with similar dedication.
    4. Building Hype: Intense dedication and a singular focus can generate excitement and interest among others. When people witness someone's unwavering commitment and progress, they may become intrigued and inspired, contributing to the "hype" around that individual or their project.

However, it's important to note that while obsession can lead to great achievements, it can also have downsides. Excessive focus on a single goal or pursuit may lead to burnout, strained relationships, or neglect of other important aspects of life. Balance is key, and it's essential to consider the potential consequences of relentless obsession.

When harnessed effectively, obsession can lead to remarkable accomplishments and generate significant interest and excitement.
