Sylvester Oromoni, a JSS2 student of Dowen College, Lagos has died, from complications arising from his experience in the hands of senior boys in his school. The 12 year old was allegedly ambushed in his room, and beat mercilessly by five or six boys, after which he was giving an unknown substance to drink. He died some days later after the incidence. This is just one too many of the stories of bullying in schools that we hear daily.
These stories show that we have a systemic problem on our hands. We have a system that inherently produces bullies, which we need to fix. This episode delves deeply into our individual roles towards this.
