  • Ep. 14 Garrett Wood, on stillness and creating
Welcome back to EMBODY: Bits to build the life you crave! I decided to bring this podcast back, this time featuring other folks who are building the life they crave.
In this "first" episode of EMBODY featuring people, I sit down with my dear friend Garrett Wood to talk about stillness. Garrett is a mindset coach, fitness expert, author, podcast host, and powerlifter.
Garrett's first book and her podcast are both titled Dare to Move, yet she's dedicated this year to practice stillness. In this conversation, we dive into the why and how to embrace stillness. Garrett shares her journey from being always "high output" and "cold calling the universe" to slowing down and being open to being, receiving, and creating.
To close, Garrett leaves us with a poem that inspires us to embrace stillness. "Turning inward, the gift of the present."

  • Ep. 13 Sarah Gaines solo, on breaking down resolutions + setting up for success
Episode 13 of EMBODY: a series of short thoughts, tales, conversations + audio-workshops to help you build the life you crave. Completely raw and uncut.
Today's thoughts: Resolutions don't work. Start thinking about setting intentions that are so wildly specific to you and your desires, not anybody else's. Also, be wary of brands trying to sell you products in an attempt to help you "achieve your resolutions."
What prompted this: New years is a week away!

Today's thoughts: How do we trust the process? What even is the process? A quick dive in with 3 basic tools to help you do it: meditation, writing + physical activity.
What prompted this: Having options in front of me and not knowing which choice is the "right" choice.

Episode 11 of EMBODY: a series of short thoughts, tales, conversations + audio-workshops to help you build the life you crave. Completely raw and uncut.

  • Ep. 10 Sarah Gaines solo, on noticing what's impacting your body image
Episode 10 of EMBODY: a series of short thoughts, tales, conversations + audio-workshops to help you build the life you crave. Completely raw and uncut.
Today's thoughts: There are so many factors that feed into how we perceive our body, both positive and negative. If we start to notice patterns, we can start to breakdown negative body image while it's happening.
What prompted this: Noticing how the perception of my body had changed in just a matter of hours after working out.
Workshop it: Next time you catch yourself with bad body image - start to think about what else is going on in your life (what have you eaten, how have you moved - or not moved, your mood, etc.). Write it down. Do the same with positive body image. Start to use these patterns to come to terms with your body image.

  • Ep. 9 Sarah Gaines solo, on how exploring helps to build the life you crave
Episode 9 of EMBODY: a series of short thoughts, tales, conversations + audio-workshops to help you build the life you crave. Completely raw and uncut. Apologies for the take on the Aussie accent at the beginning lol.
Today's thoughts: We stop exploring as we get older. If we explore more physically, we can explore more within ourselves and in turn, build the life we crave because we can start to uncover what it is that we really do crave.
What prompted this: Penny boarding through Fitzroy Garden in Melbourne and going down a little path that peaked my interest.
Workshop it: Next time you catch yourself saying no to your initial thought of "I want to try that!" or "That looks cool!" take a step back and do it!! That's all folks.

  • Ep. 8 Sarah Gaines solo, on how positive self talk dictates your life
Episode 8 of EMBODY: a series of short thoughts, tales, conversations + audio-workshops to help you build the life you crave. Completely raw and uncut.
Today's thoughts: How do you recognize what you're capable of? The way we talk to ourselves dictate the way we spend our lives.
What prompted this: Listening to a podcast where they discussed what makes us unique and when someone comes into the world, what will they bring with them?
Workshop it: Start to notice your internal dialogue - is it positive or negative? When you catch yourself speaking negatively - stop yourself and replace with something positive. When you have an idea of wanting to do something, stop thinking "I can't" start thinking "how can I?"

  • Ep. 7 Sarah Gaines solo, on how to follow your dreams (without all the bs)
Episode 7 of EMBODY: a series of short thoughts, tales, conversations + audio-workshops to help you build the life you crave. Completely raw and uncut.
Today's thoughts: How do you follow your dreams and passions when you have limited resources and obstacles (like finances + lack of community) ahead?
What prompted this: A question asked by a woman sitting in the audience of a panel I sat on, "reach your resolutions."
    Workshop it:
    1) Do something for yourself - it doesn't need to be anything fancy, it can be 10 minutes of reading, writing, drawing, walking. Think about what activity makes you feel good that costs $0.
    2) Pick up odd jobs to bring in $$$.
    3) Find ways to be thrifty. Write out your current expenses and see where you can cut.
    4) Find a community. Feel free to reach out to me to help you find a community!
