Today’s devotion from Deuteronomy 12:1–32 reminds us that God desires pure worship and undivided devotion.

Before Israel entered the Promised Land, God commanded His people to tear down the pagan altars, destroy the idols, and refuse to imitate the worship practices of the nations around them. The issue was not only where they worshiped, but whom they worshiped and how they worshiped.

This message speaks deeply to believers today. Modern idols may not be carved from wood or stone, but they can still capture the heart. Success, comfort, money, reputation, social media, entertainment, relationships, and personal ambition can slowly take the place that belongs to God alone.

Deuteronomy 12 calls us to examine our hearts honestly. Are there rival altars still standing within us? Are we worshiping God according to His truth, or according to what feels right in our own eyes?

Through Jesus Christ, we are invited to worship the Father in spirit and truth. Pure worship is not empty religion. It is a surrendered life, a devoted heart, and joyful obedience to the One who alone is worthy.

Today’s devotion from Deuteronomy 10:1–22 reminds us that God is merciful, faithful, holy, and deeply concerned with the condition of our hearts.

After Israel’s failure with the golden calf, God did not abandon His people. He instructed Moses to prepare new tablets, rewrote His commandments, and renewed His covenant. But Deuteronomy 10 also asks an important question: what does the Lord require of us? God calls His people to fear Him, walk in His ways, love Him, serve Him with all their heart and soul, and obey His commandments for their good.

Do you still have a reason to praise God when life feels difficult?

Will the next generation know God because they saw a living faith in us?

Does God care only about outward obedience—or is He looking for something deeper?
