Today I wanted to take some crossover topics like hazmat, incident command, and even scene safety and explore the differences between how EMS and Fire operate. Douglas Spencer is joining in again.

Douglas Spencer joins me today again as we have a discussion on prepping educational presentations. That leads to a discussion of the National Registry and how it is viewed. We get onto the topic of volunteer firefighters, mandates, and other disagreements, but a late question brought everything full circle. I start talking about always practicing your IV's as you go down the road and Douglas' statement about critical thinking brings home a point that we all should be teaching.

I received this question from a viewer/listener. "Amr giving EMT's and medics an opportunity to buy body armor. Does that mean they are going to have to go into unsafe situations? If that's the case why not arm the staff? What about staged calls, when officer's don't clear the scene? Finally, untrained new police officer's do they have enough training to make EMT's and medics feel safe doing their job? And how stations are handling this along with COVID?" It took me a while to learn how to ride with anyone for 24 hours. Nowadays 12 hours is the standard and yet we still have difficulty getting along. Personalities are what they are and I will be going through some stereotypes and situations to help you to be able to ride with just about anyone.

I found two current stories about paramedics that I want to read and discuss today. I have merely read the headlines so we are going to process the stories together.
