During this breakfast meeting of our Digital Ethics working group, that took place on Tuesday, May 28th, we picked up our previous discussion on the use of “artificial intelligence” in cultural centres.

With the help of Femke Snelting from Titipi, the Institute for Technology in the Public Interest, we tried to define interesting compromises and reflective practices in the midst of this avalanche, and to structure our thinking in order to share it with others.

By integrating ecological principles, not only can cultural centres contribute to a healthier planet, but also strengthen the social and cultural fabric of their neighbourhoods. The 2024 edition of Lights On looked at the vital role cultural operators play in fostering environmental consciousness and weaving sustainability into the very essence of cultural institutions.

Diana Anselmo is a LIS/Italian bilingual artist who debuted in 2021 with his first performance “Autoritratto in 3 atti”, still performed in various Italian and foreign festivals. Diana is the accessibility manager of various festivals, and one of the founders of Al.Di.Qua. Artists, Europe’s first association of and for artists with disabilities.

Femke Snelting develops projects at the intersection between design, feminism and free software. She explores how digital tools and practices might co-construct each other In various constellations. She is one of the founders of The Institute for Technology in the Public Interest (TITiPI) and a member of Constant, association for art and media based in Brussels. With Jara Rocha she activates Possible Bodies, a collective research project exploring bodies in the context of volumetric technologies. With the Underground Division (Helen Pritchard and Jara Rocha), she studies the computational imaginations of rock formations. Femke teaches at XPUB (experimental publishing master) in Rotterdam.
