After one of our listeners suggested covering a Pauly Shore movie, we all decided that Encino Man seemed like the logical place to start. A ten-year-old Donna thought this was awesome and that Pauly was the future of comedy. Carlos didn't warm up to it until college and all of his friends started quoting it. Chris didn't hate it, but he was never as excited about Pauly Shore as a lot of other people seemed to be. You know what the most surprising thing about rewatching it was? Our main character Dave is probably one of the least likable protagonists in any of the movies we've looked at so far! Other topics include: how this isn't really "a Pauly Shore movie" in the traditional sense, Donna's huge gripe with the prologue, why the love interest's jerk boyfriend isn't really a jerk at all, a really touching moment that's completely betrayed by Dave "White Fang-ing" Link a few scenes later, the way everybody keeps getting together and breaking up off-screen, the wrong way to binge at 7-11 when you're drunk, the made-for-tv sequel, and much much more!
