There is a great deal of controversy about the book of Jasher and there are various texts purporting to be it. The text to which we refer could possibly be genuine, although no one knows for sure. It is certainly interesting and provides possible historic scenarios to accompany the biblical narrative, but should never be placed above the Bible in importance. The Bible refers to the Book of Jasher in Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel 1:18.
