That's right. We need to talk about something I call the "EVERYONE ILLUSION."

A recent conversation with a Coach reminded me of it and it's SO IMPORTANT... especially if you've ever felt tempted to compare yourself to another coach, speaker or content creator! (Or... if you've ever felt like you were "behind" or not moving fast enough!)

So... THIS is about an important conversation that I had with a coaching client this week.

Because the concept of creating an opt-in and collecting emails came up!

And yes... that is important... BUT the key is to not only collect emails... but to also NURTURE your list!

Okay Encourager... do I have a story for you!

That's right. I've been reading Mark Batterson's book: Double Blessing. It's SOOOO good!

There are so many great stories to inspire you and keep you going... but one of my favorites is a little known back story of the composer George Frideric Handel.

You may or may not be familiar with Handel... but I'm betting you've heard at least one of his VERY famous pieces of music.

But... as you'll hear in this episode... THAT piece of music (and the resulting unexpected financial windfall) came AFTER a significant set back.

Today... I JUST got off of a call with one of my Coaching Allies (my word for client!).

She's awesome AND she's also going through a lot of changes in her life. Some she's chosen and some that have been thrown at her.

This Ally shared that she'd been digging into Encouraging the Encourager episodes along with my other podcast... DREAM THINK DO.

She mentioned she'd recently listened to my interview with "The Biggest Loser's" Jillian Micheals. (Click here: mitchmatthews.com/323 to listen to that one!).

And during THAT interview... Jillian had talked about the power of knowing her "WHY."

And that's true. We've talked about the "POWER OF WHY" in numerous ETE and DTD episodes... BUT my Ally admitted that with all the changes... her "WHY" was feeling less clear.

She was quick to point out that in other seasons of her life and her business... her "WHY" was VERY clear. But if she was being honest... it's was a little "fuzzy" right now.

I think I surprised her with my response... because we talked about how that could be a good thing.

Not an easy thing... but a good thing!

And once she understood what I meant... it seemed to help. So... I wanted to share it with YOU!

I talk about it more in the episode. And hey... if you're a little "fuzzy" on your WHY right now... I hope this encourages YOU too!

This weekend... while I was resting up from a busy week... I spent a little time in what's called "wisdom literature."

Specifically... I found a Proverb that said this:

"Cynics look high and low for wisdom—and never find it;
    the open-minded find it right on their doorstep!"

That got me thinking!

In fact, I started to list out times where the answer appeared when I allowed myself to be open.

Not in some airy-fairy... just sit on the couch and wait for it to all come to me way.

But to quite the inner-critic... to quite the inner-doubter... and to do what was within my control... BUT to also stay open for solutions to come to me!

And in THIS episode... I tell one of THOSE stories.

It was something I needed... so I thought you might need it too!

I've told you that it's a more than "normal crazy" this week because... not only did I get to speak at a conference in Chicago. But I also got to help step in a bit when the host of the event was sent to the hospital due to an unforeseen medical issue. (He's doing much better... btw!)

So yeah... this week was a little extra cray cray. LOL!
