Here's another REAL TIME story of a strategy I shared with a coaching client of mine.

She's a new coach and she's wanted to put out content that will really engage her clients... so we're creating blog posts.

The beauty of blog posts is... you can start with BLOGGING. But the elements of a good blog post are similar to what it takes to make for an effective podcast episode or long-form social media post.

So in THIS episode... I share a key to kicking off blog posts that grab people.

You want to tell a story... but you want that story to let the reader KNOW that you KNOW them!

So... we talk about that today.

Okay... this is a true "report from the journey" because minutes before I recorded THIS episode... I just got done recording an interview to be on someone else's podcast. (It's a big one too!)

Today... I share a quick "behind the scenes" story of what happened when I started to feel a pang of worry this morning. (Seriously... it was THIS morning!!!)

When I did... I did something I tell you about it in this episode... and when I did it... it changed things for the better!

I'll admit it. I used to REALLY struggle with what to do with those "Can I pick your brain?" requests.

Do you receive those? Maybe it's a friend... or a former co-worker... or someone in your network.

They're probably not interested in becoming a coaching client but they reach out for help. Sure... you want to help them... but you can't be running all over town for coffees and lunches because you've got a business to grow!

So... in this episode... offer a specific strategy that I use that has been a GAME CHANGER.

Specifically... I use: https://calendly.com.

Then... I've set up a specific window of time that I call "Office Hours."

It's for two hours each Friday morning.

People can grab a 30 minute slot... and I can call them. (NOTE: I call them... they don't call me. That way I maintain control... and if they don't pick up... they miss their call and they have to schedule again.)

This allows me to say "yes" to helping the person... BUT it also allows me to put boundaries around that. And it saves me from having the run all over and be depleted at the end of the day! It also increases the perceived value of that time AND it also offers the person a great example of what it means to focus, boundary your time and STILL give back.

Yup... game changer!

The late great Stephen Covey once said:

"The key is to NOT prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities." Which is SO TRUE!

So... asking yourself the question: "What are my priorities?" is a critical part of designing a business you love and one that pays you well.

BUT you need to add THESE THREEE WORDS to THAT question to create a freeeegin' amazing and profitable business you can SUSTAIN and continue to LOVE for years to come!

Recently... I gave a keynote to kick off a conference.

A speaker who was doing a break out later in the day approached me afterwards. She saw how I'd played specific songs at specific times of my presentation... but that the music was playing independently from my slides on my laptop.

She said, "It was great... because I saw you picking different songs for different segments... so you could use one song for when people are working at their tables... and another song for when people were moving around the room doing one of your activities... but you didn't have to mess with your computer or your slides! I loved it... and I wanted to know how you did it!"

So... I showed her that I had a 5th generation ipod set up with an independent jack connected to the event center's sound system.

That way I could have MY music at my finger tips!

It's sooooo simple... but it gives me more control and creates less stress!

Now... apparently... Apple has stopped making the ipod so you may still find a new one at Apple stores and it sounds like Target still sell them. Or Amazon has refurbished ones. (Here's an example: https://amzn.to/3HKzk1V)

You can sure use your phone... but there's nothing worse that getting a call or a text and having your ring tone play over the PA!

Or... you can turn on your phone's airplane mode... but then your phone is tethered to the podium. So... if you want to take a selfie with the audience... OR take some photos of audience members diving into your content... you can't do it!

Yup... that's why I like this hack!

It's simple but powerful!

It's truly something I wish I'd known about sooner... so that is why I want to share it with you here!
