  • Choose Your Mindset To Achieve Goals & Enjoy Life
    Shape Your Mindset To
Achieve Your Goals & Enjoy Life

    Two People And Their Mindsets:

Jon is overweight and knows he needs to lose 30 lbs because it is impacting is health and leading to other negative medical conditions. Jon also has a negative mindset. He sees all the challenges and obstacles that he will have to overcome. Just about everyday he ends up thinking “I’m going to fail. This will be the worst thing I’ve ever tried. There is no way that I can do this. It will be such a struggle.” He tells himself those things and the worst part is that he believes them.

Sandy is also overweight. She has struggled with her weight for a long time. Unlike Jon, Sandy knows that she can make changes and that the hard work that she put into improving her health with pay-off. She tells herself “I can lose weight and get healthy. It will take a lot of hard work. But, it’s worth the effort and I am the one who will enjoy the benefits. She adheres to a rigorous exercise routine and begins to eat healthy. As Sandy works toward her goal she encourages herself, reminds herself of her goal and the progress she is making, she sees the benefits of her efforts even before other people see them. Sandy truly knows exactly what she is doing, the results she will get, and her reasons why.

    Between Sandy and Jon:

Which do you think will achieve their goal?
Which do you think will enjoy the journey most?
If they both lost 30 lbs, who do you think would keep it off?

      Different Mindsets

Mindsets can be broken up into many different groups.

Growth/Fixed – for more on these read Mindset by Carol Dweck (CLICK HERE for my affiliate link)
    Abundant/Limited (Scarcity)
    Open/closed
    Positive/Negative

    A Negative Mindset

Struggle – difficult – royal pain – negative thoughts & focus – miserable

    A Positive mindset

Hard working – willing – positive – worth the effort – not bad – purposeful – rewarding

Here we will just be looking at simply helpful or not helpful. I want to you succeed at conquering your goals. You’ll want to shape your mindset to one that will help you do just that. Yes, you can take any and all of the actions to conquer your goal with or without any particular mindset. But, the right mindset can make it easier and more enjoyable.

    Where they born with it?

    Maybe

Some people were just born with the right mindset. The helpful mindset that makes it easy for them to do anything they want, achieve their goals, make improvements, and have a wonderful time doing so. And other people weren’t born with that mindset. Does that mean that the people who weren’t born with that helpful mindset are just screwed? NO! Not at all. Those who naturally have a mindset that isn’t helping them succeed have to work at developing can do what anyone can do – Work To Make Changes! Just as much as some people were born with natural skills and abilities that make sports and athletics easy for them. Other people have to work very hard at it. Some people were born with the ability to learn new information very quickly. Other people have to work very hard to learn anything. I believe the same as true for mindsets. You have the ability to shape your mindset. One way you can change your mindset is reminding yourself of the things that you want to know, think about, and believe. The more we think about something the bigger it becomes in our minds.

    What it comes down to:

What you choose to focus on grows.
    Choose where you focus.

    You Can Shape Your Mindset!

Your mindset has the ability to make things seem easier or make them seem harder. It can it easier to take action, make progress, improve yourself, and even focus. Your mindset can make all those things much easier and it can make them more enjoyable too. But, if you don’t watch out, your mindset could be making all those valuable things much harder. A negative mindset can make the things you need and want all but impossible. It can become such a challenge to move forward, take action, make progress, or focus when you need it. A negative mindset will definitely ruin your chances at enjoying the journey to your goals too.

Have you ever heard inspiring story? If you have, then you know it’s possible for people to overcome barriers and challenges and make progress toward their goals. You know it’s true because people have done it. It can be as simple as reminding yourself that it’s possible for you can overcome your challenges, make progress, and succeed at your goals. When you REALLY believe that you can succeed, the actions to get there become just a little bit easier.

Remind yourself of the things that you want to believe that will help you succeed in the areas that are important to you. Would it help you if you believed that you could overcome the challenges in your way? Yes! So, reminder self of that. When you tell yourself something enough, you’ll begin to really believe it. You’ll begin to experience that belief in your everyday life and that can help shape your actions and ultimately your results.

    What Next?

What do you need to believe? Over the next few weeks we’ll go over a few different areas of key things to remind yourself of to help you keep moving forward, making progress, conquering goals, and enjoying your life. Make sure you’re subscribed and stay tuned – don’t miss a single episode!

  • The Power Is In Starting
You Have Access To Power Right Now

Have you ever wanted to do something, but waited?

Maybe you waited because of a certain challenge that was in your way.

Did you wait because you thought that it would be too tough? Did you think that you didn’t have all the skills and abilities needed to complete the entire goal?

    There is an old saying:

If you wait for all the lights to turn green, you’ll never leave.   What does that mean?

    • Conditions will never be perfect.
      • There will always be something that could be better or make achieving your goal easier. That doesn’t mean that now is not a good time to start.

    • You’ll never know everything.
      • Yes, always keep learning. Definitely keep learning. But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be taking action too. In fact, it can be a lot easier to learn while you’re taking action. That way you can learn by doing and, honestly, making mistakes too. I tend to learn more from my mistakes than from my successes.

    • There will always be some area you can improve.
      • I know the desire to want to improve before I start. There is one big problem with waiting to start until you’re better at a particular task. You don’t improve sitting still. You just don’t. No one does. We each get better by doing. Want to be a better speaker? Then, speak. Want to improve your drawing, cooking, or any other skill? Then, start doing it. Of course, you’ll want to learn, make adjustments, practice new methods, and such. You’ll just have to start in order to be able to do any of those things to improve.

    • There will always be something.
      • That’s it. There will always be something, some reason why waiting sounds like a good idea.

    Why Start Now?

Time will pass anyways. It will. One year from now you’ll be a year older. That is a fact. You don’t have much of a choice on that. However, you will choose to be either a year ahead closer to your goal or not. What will it be?

Things aren’t perfect. Okay. What will you do? Wait for all the lights to turn green? Or will you get started today? If you start, then you can learn, improve, develop new skills, and improve your situation along the way toward your goal.

What have you allowed to hold you back? What will you do about it? What Will You Start Today?

  • Don't Give Up on You

No Matter What - Don't Do This

I think of this as being one of the absolute most important things. Maybe even one of the most important in my entire life. I’m not a genius. So, I definitely won’t be the first to say this. Still listen.

  • Use A Trigger To Get Back On Track
Have You Ever Been Distracted? Off Track From What You Should Be Doing?

Have you ever been there where is seems like one moment you’re focused and being productive and then the next way off track? Maybe you got caught by a cat video, scrolling instagram, anything else that can distract you from what you were doing? If been there. In fact, it happened to me in starting to type this post. I’m very familiar with getting distracted. Thankfully, I have a method that helps me to get back on track, focused-ish, and moving forward again really quick. If you’re anything like me when I get distracted, then you notice it not long after it happens. Maybe not the exact moment, but soon thereafter. I often notice that I’m distracted, off track, and doing something other than what I should be doing or what I had been doing. One moment I’m focused doing my work and then the next not at all. If you’ve ever find yourself there, what can you do to get back on track, focused, and moving forward? Do what I do and use a trigger.

      Trigger To Get Focused

The moment you notice that you’re off track and not focused is the time to act. It is in that exact moment that this technique is most powerful. At least for me, it works best when I do it as soon as I realize I’m off track.

      GO!

I use the audible command “GO” to tell myself to get back on track. I know it may sound a little dumb. It not complicated, complex, confusing, or difficult to do. Yet, it can be a powerful tool to help you get back moving in the direction you want to go. The moment I realize that I’m scrolling the internet when I just was working on a project that I want to complete I say “GO” out loud. I use the “GO” as an audible command to myself to tell myself to get back doing what I should be doing. I find that it is more helpful the just saying it in my head. Out loud definitely works best for me. Why even say anything? Why not just get back on track when you notice you’re distracted? I don’t know. You can. But, this way is more effective for me? For some reason using an audible command that tells myself to do what I want myself to do seems to be most helpful for me. The exact moment I notice I’m off track and distracted I say “GO!” That tells me to go get back to what I should be doing. Hearing that simple command (even though it was me saying it) gets me back where I need to be. Maybe it can help you too when you need it.

  • One Trait For Goals, Marriage, And Life
This Trait Will Help Goals, Marriage, & Life. But, You Might Not Like It.

There is one thing that can lead to many possibilities and wonderful outcomes that without it would never be possible. I heard about it’s amazing power in a sermon about marriage. But, no this is not where I preach to you about believing in God. This one trait is not about pleasing your spouse. At the same time, it may lead to having a better relationship with them. This one trait is not about productivity, planning, or even taking action, but it can lead to you achieving your biggest goals and dreams. It’s not about being healthy and enjoying life, but those certainly can be a result if you want them to be. What I’m talking about is a well known key to achieving any big goal or dream you have. It’s not better planning, mindset, or really even specifically taking action. At the same time, it will lead to you getting far more of what you want, accomplishing your goals, and even experiencing the life you want. What is it?

    Commitment.

I said you probably won’t like it. When you commit to something (a goal, person, lifestyle, mindset, purpose) you can accomplish great things. You accomplish the great things because you don’t see the way out. You’re committed, so you do your best. You make things happen and do the needed work because you’re committed. Simple. Commit to a goal and you’ll keep working at despite and challenges or obstacles. You’ll be persistent when times are tough. You’ll try one more time after you already failed 50 times. Commit to a person and you won’t even see a way out. When you’re in it, with no way out, you might as well do your absolute best to make it work. When you have a built in way out that you see as being an option, there is less of a reason to give it your best no matter what. Commit to having the best life you can you’ll make the improvements that you can and then you’ll get to experience the benefits of those improvements. Simple, right?

    Commit!

  • Don't Believe The Reasonable Excuses
The Worst Excuses Are The Reasonable Ones

It’s the reasonable excuses that you’ll believe. They will stop you for making the progress that would be possible if you didn’t believe them.

      What’s A Reasonable Excuse?

I’m too busy Yes, you could be very busy. But, that’s also an excuse. A reasonable excuse. But, still an excuse. You may be a professional with many demands at work, a family to take care of, goals to achieve, and lots of other things on your plate. Yes, you could be very busy. That is why it’s a reasonable excuse. It makes sense. You’re too busy to do more things because of all the things that you’re doing now. At the same time, it’s just an excuse. What you do is your choice. Own that choice. The next time you tell yourself you’re too busy think about it. What you’re saying is that you choose to keep doing what you’re doing. It’s your choice what you do. It takes money to make money. It’s easy to believe what we hear over and over again. But, let me tell you many many people have made money that didn’t start with tons of money. You can choose to believe that the reason why you’re not making a lot if money is because you didn’t start with it. Believe that if you wish. It may be a reasonable excuse. Anything Else  Just about anything that you believe as being the reason why you can’t achieve your goal can be an excuse. If the excuse seems really plausible, then it has the danger of being a reasonable excuse and you’ll need to be careful that it doesn’t stop you and your progress.

What If It’s A Reason & Not An Excuse?

Okay, there may be a legitimate reason why you can’t succeed. I thought about listing some ‘reasons’ why people don’t succeed and then searching and finding successful people who overcame those challenges. Then, I thought it would just upset people and not get adequate credit to those who overcame the challenge. Instead, if there is a real reason why you CAN’T achieve your goal, then ask yourself these questions. Is there something you can do about it? Would learning or developing a new skill help? Has anyone anywhere overcome that challenge? See it as a challenge. Can’t Never Could – Change your language. Google inspirational stories There are two types of limitations. The real and the imagined. Only the imagined are impossible to overcome.
