We're constantly being told that we cannot achieve anything in

All the gurus and talking heads telling you to hustle, push and

But you know what I associated this with for many years?

Suffering.

I had this belief that you had to SUFFER in order to achieve

And if I wasn't suffering, then somehow success wouldn't happen

Don't get me wrong, you have to 'do work' to achieve

But why does it have to be hard?

Why do we have to associate suffering with success.

Why can it not just be... work?

It was so interesting talking with Andre Duquemin.

In his mid-30s, Andre 'should' have been happy.

He had a successful business, nice car, nice house, nice family and all that stuff.

Yet he suddenly found himself coming to an abrupt realisation that, despite having all of this, he was pretty chuffing miserable.

To me, this is a testament to the fact that we must all do work on ourselves if we want to be happy and live a joyful, meaningful life.

Simply chasing some future goal we believe will give us happiness will never work.

It's this kind of 'inner work' that Andre used to get him through this period in his life, and now he works as a coach to help men suffering with similar issues to get through it themselves.

So in this interview I talk to Andre about how he came through this crisis in his life... and how to avoid it happening to you.

That's a bold promise, I know.

But these two words really did help me just release a lot of head shizzle that was building up.

And these words are:

"Fuck it".

Or "let go" if you don't want to be so crude about it :)

Anyway, saying 'fuck it' to stuff does make a lot of things better.

This isn't about just taking the 'lackadaisical route' with everything and turning completely into the Dude Lebowski.

But more about how we tend to attach so much meaning to SO many in a pretty needless way in most cases.

Think about something that's creating struggle right now in your life.

A problem, an issue, something that sits in the back of your mind.

Can you just say 'fuck it' and let it go?

Would it not be pretty cool if you could simply decide to not attach so much meaning to it?

I know, it can be hard.

There are things you've grown up with and built a lifetime of attachment to.

But what kind of person would you be become if you could... let it go and move on?

I explain further in the episode.

This is a subject I am deeply passionate about because I have used it to great effect in my own life after attaching meaning to so many things previously.

I watched the film 'About Schmidt' recently.

It's one of my favourites.

A bit of a dark and dry comedy.

It's about a guy played by Jack Nicholson who's about to retire.

Only he finds himself realising he feels like he kind of wasted his life.

Never really took the big risk.

Played the 'safety game'.

And got stuck in middle management without making the true impact he felt like he could have.

Don't get me wrong, there's NOTHING wrong with taking this route.

You can be truly happy.

But, for me, it's one of my greatest fears.

Getting towards the end and thinking... shit!

Anyway, I talk more in the episode about it and the lessons I take from the film.

This is one of my favourite films (because of what it makes me think about mainly), so that's why I wanted to share this with you.

It's really cool being around someone like Paul Glezer, even if it is just via Skype.

I had the great pleasure of being on Paul's own podcast, My Wellness Wishlist, a few weeks back, and now we're reversing the roles for him to be a guest here on Enlightened Entrepreneurial Badasses.

He's based down in Melbourne, Australia where he works as a health and wellness coach with spirituality and a 'holistic view' being a large part of what he does.

But here on the podcast we talk about Paul's story and how he went from suffering with pretty obvious nervous twitches and anxiety in his childhood, to pretty much curing this within two days of going on a silent meditation retreat in India.

It's a great chat we had, in which we talk more in detail about what actually went down on a daily basis at this silent meditation retreat and how Paul took what he learned there and applied to to his life afterwards.

As well as a whole host of other stuff, so I highly recommend you check it out!

We all want to be be successful.

But I think we sometimes forget to define what success actually means to us.

We just get out of school and 'fall forward' into an area we think would be pretty cool to work in.

Get a family, get a house, get a car, go on holiday and get some form of income to pay for all this stuff.

Then if you can get something to pay you more income you can have more stuff and bigger, better versions of it.

Simples, right?

Then, before we know it, we realise that we've pretty much been blindly following someone else's path.

And we're just left wondering...

"Why the piss is this not making me happy?"

But if you define what success means to YOU, it actually does become a lot simpler.

Actually spend some time thinking what it is you WANT out of life and what makes you happy.

Then reverse engineer it so you know exactly how much money you need to earn from whatever your 'thing' is in order to fund the life you want.

Have you ever considered that it's actually okay to be whatever or whoever you are right now?

I'm serious.

I think a lot of the time we strive to be bigger and better so much that we forget to think that right now might actually be pretty cool if we allow it to be.

Broke? That's okay.

Struggling with your business? That's okay.

Overweight and out of shape? That's okay.

I'm not saying you should just accept it and stay as you are forever.

It's also absolutely okay to want to be better and achieve bigger and better things.

But wanting to change or grow because you dislike yourself right now I think is a recipe for being in a constant state of chasing something in the future to make us happy

Almost as soon as you meet JP Sears you just get a feeling that this is one pretty deep thinking yet comically gifted dude.

I love his style and have admired for a time how he puts across his awesome message in such an hilarious way.

So when I reached out and he said yes to coming onto the podcast I did an Ultra Spiritual jig to celebrate.

JP has always been a bit of a comic, but in this interview we talk about how he used to use clownery to get attention and cover up emotional scars while growing up.

After a few years being a bit lost, he then found his calling and now has a thriving coaching business helping others to heal their emotions and awaken themselves from within.

But one of my favourite parts of what JP does is his YouTube channel.

This has now garnered a pretty big following after JP embraced his humour to deliver his 'Ultra Spiritual Life' series, a tongue-in-cheek look at today's 'new-age' movement. I highly recommend you check this out!

I really loved my time interviewing JP (I genuinely had to rest my cheeks afterwards due to being constantly either laughing or in a smile pose).
