This weekend, I found myself tangled up in stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. And in that moment of struggle, a familiar phrase repeated in my mind:

I can’t be everything to everyone.

That would be understandable if I was stretched thin, with everyone tugging on my energy (type 2s I’m looking at you👀).

But here’s the truth: no one was asking anything of me, so where did this thought come from?

A wounded place— that’s  where.

Each of us has those shadows, and they emerge differently for every Enneagram type. This week on Enneagram Ego Death, we’re exploring Core Weaknesses, also known as the Passions of the Enneagram. These traits aren’t just quirks; they’re the hidden currents shaping our personalities.

So as you read on, know this isn't meant to make anyone feel bad. It’s an invitation to awareness, to reclaim power over these shadows (type 8s I know you love to have the power).

The card reading: 

Silver: 

Lunar reflective chrome amidst its upper echelon status, silver shines eternally in second position. It is the lesser sibling, the one that is not quite there yet. A true alchemist does not avoid this truth, but rather studies its subtle implications and its wisdom. Silver requires polishing, or the surface tarnishes over time. Mirrors require cleaning, or the image clouds and distorts. Whereas gold sustains its own malleable radiance, silver asks for our participation. We must work at it. Don't give up now. Silver wants to build relationships, like the moon. A mirror or a poem. Let it reflect an image back, with an open heart. And one more moment of willingness. The seemingly cold, stark surface of silver opens into the imaginal realm. What is there, your own vastness? The mysteries that beckon you on its moonlit nights. Through our daily devotions to silver, we find the deepest gold.

Mercury
Do not rush big decisions or get caught in the mesmerizing energy. Rather, pay particular attention to the precise words that are being spoken and written. There may be a trick underway. Maybe not. No one is sure yet. It is said that the energy of Mercury is found in the pinky finger and that its ally color is green. Enjoy your time in this emerald hall of mirrors.

The Village
The hometown, the family, the tribe. The village presents us with a conundrum. On the one hand, it’s the place that feels the most like home, the place to which you can always return. Nostalgia and comfort draw you back. On the other hand, it’s the very place that you must leave in order to grow. Around the village, an unspoken boundary exists, one most villagers do not want you to cross—though some support your leaving. Still, you hear whispers of doubt as you venture beyond its borders, leaving them behind. The energy of the village is present anytime we feel restricted by a certain group, community, family, place, or ideology. It may have served us in the past, yet staying within its parameters will never satiate our thirst for life. Thank the village for all it has provided, knowing you will someday return. For now, the world awaits.
