  • How to leverage customer feedback to grow your eCommerce store - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

Pierre Larose, Founder of Hippie Pants, which sells handmade Thai pants to North and South American markets joins eCommerce Radio to discuss how to leverage customer feedback to grow your eCommerce store.
Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Pierre Larose discuss the following:

    * What’s your background and as the owner what is your role within the organisation?
    * How do you decide what to prioritise?
    * Give us an example of an innovation decision you made due to customer feedback.
    * Many people would say, why not just run a survey to get customer feedback?
    * How else would you recommend other store owners get informal feedback?

Summary: You are probably already receiving a lot of feedback even if you didn’t plan to formally collect it. Take time to look at engagement rates on different types of products and content, social media chatter, blog comments, suggestions reaching customer service, store search and of course reviews. I’m not suggesting everything a customer requests must be rolled out but when there is repeated feedback it’s almost always a pain point or a sales opportunity worth considering.

Hippie-Pants is an online store launched in 2015 which sells fair trade, vegan and authentic thai pants. From their production process to their partnerships, the store follows its guiding principles of fair trade and sustainability, guaranteeing fair iving wages, prepaying local seamstresses and designers to avoid them getting into debt as well as promoting economic activity in rural areas.
All products are handmade in Thailand and shipped worldwide. The use of local artisans and inhouse shipping allows for close control of product quality as well as social and environmental impact.
The company also operates in Brazil under the Calça Thai brand and in Mexico as Pantalones Thai.

  • Bug Band – Repelling Mosquitoes “Naturally” - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

Dan Ritter, President of Bug Band in Cartersville, Georgia that produces a wide range of Naturally Derived insect repellents made from the oil of Geranium plants joins Enterprise Radio.
Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Dan Ritter discuss the following:

    * How and when did you get started with Bug Band?
    * What makes Bug Band different from other insect repellents?
    * What is wrong with using DEET as a repellent?
    * What is in Bug Band products that repels insects?
    * Where are Bug Band products manufactured?

Dan Ritter is the President & CEO of Bug Band.  After being discharged from the Marine Corp in the late 1960’s Mr. Ritter, along with two other men formed an aerosol filling company in Marietta, GA which they grew and owned until 1985.  At that time the company was sold and two years later Mr. Ritter organized EES, Inc. which is the parent company of Bug Band.  EES, Inc. manufactures a wide range of Industrial/Institutional odor control chemicals for the commercial market – Hospitals, schools, nursing homes, etc.
In 2002 one of the EES vendors introduced Mr. Ritter to Dr. Jerry Butler at the University of FL where they had been developing alternate ways to repel Mosquitoes and other troublesome insects.  After some research, which included Mr. Ritter having his arms in a cage full of hungry female Mosquitoes, it was decided to get the rights to the U. of FL patents on the use of Geraniol as a repellent.  At that point the Bug Band division of EES, Inc. was formed. Since its introduction to the market in 2003 the Bug Band line has grown both in distribution as well as product offering, and continues to grow with more products for new markets.

  • Finding her passion in creative houseware products - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

Melissa Livingston, the Founder and CEO of Twisted Wares and Missy Made Well, Inc. joins Enterprise Radio.  She is an entrepreneur with spirit who went through a major career change when the economy changed and found her passion in creative housewares products.
Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Melissa Livingston discuss the following:

    * How did Twisted Wares come about and what was the reason behind creating it?
    * What has your path to success been like with Twisted Wares?
    * What advice would you give other entrepreneurs that are starting new businesses?
    * Tell us about your patent and why it is important.
    * How do you come up with the sayings and the products in the Twisted Wares and Missy Made Well lines?

Missy Livingston, a mother of three boys, had just cleaned the kitchen for the twenty-seventh time that week. As if on cue, her youngest ran in and pulled down the towel she had just hung over the oven handle to dry. Missy knew she could not be the only person who found this frustrating.
In her previous life, Missy was a realtor in Seattle. Then the recession of 2008 hit. Her husband lost his job, they lost their own house, and were forced to relocate to Texas with their three young sons.
Suddenly, Missy was a stay at home mom, who felt like her life was completely out of her control. And her son constantly pulling down the towel was just the push she needed to take back her power AND create a product that she knew would resonate with people everywhere. “If I couldn’t control my life in the moment, I was damn well going to control the towel,” she says. And Twisted Wares™ was born. The Hang Tight Towel® loop design allows for your towel to be used as you would any towel, and it will stay put when you want it to without buttons, Velcro, or snaps.
Twisted Wares™ is delighted to bring you inspired, laugh-out-loud, high-quality, and functional products for you to enjoy every day.

  • The 9 Key Behaviors of Top Problem Solvers, Expert Tips and Advice - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

Nat Greene, the Co-Founder and current CEO of Stroud International & author of his new book: Stop Guessing: The 9 Behaviors of Great Problem-Solvers joins Enterprise Radio.
This episode of Enterprise Radio is working in conjunction with the Author Channel.
Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Nat Greene discuss the following:

    * What prompted you to write this book?
    * You’ve probably heard this question before, but what’s wrong with guessing?
    * Can you explain what it means to smell the problem?
    * Anyone who’s led a team has faced that inevitable brainstorming session that veers far off course. How do you steer everyone back to the central issue?
    * Why are some people convinced that complicated problems require equally complicated solutions?
    * When a team is tackling a problem, it does seem like the most powerful people in the room dominate the process. Any advice on how to make sure everyone gets heard?
    * You talk about the need to find the root cause in order to solve a problem for good. What happens if you can’t, and have to engineer some kind of fix anyway? Is there any way to temporarily but effectively solve a problem?
    * As a global problem solving expert, what’s the hardest problem you’ve ever faced?

Tip: It helps to understand that many people don’t believe they’re guessing, even when they are. This is because people want to believe they’re sophisticated, and they understand at a gut level that guessing is not a sophisticated way of solving problems. People will dress up guessing in fancy language: they might be brainstorming, coming up with ideas, listing possible root causes, hypothesizing, ideating, or the like. All of these are guessing. They may even tell you that they’re using a specific problem solving methodology, but if you look closely enough you’ll see that many of these include guessing. To help people–including yourself–break out of guessing you first need to be honest with yourself and identify that’s what you’re doing. As soon as you’re no longer attached to justifying your old approach to problem solving, you’ll be able to take steps to improve it.
Nat Greene is the co-founder and current CEO of Stroud International, and author of Stop Guessing: The 9 Behaviors of Great Problem-Solvers. Nat earned a Masters of Engineering from Oxford University and studied design, manufacturing and management at Cambridge University, in addition to executive education coursework in Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management program.

    * As an entrepreneur what do you think is the biggest element to help you stand out as a brand? How do you define success?

    About Simply Inc:
In 2012, founder Sarah Boyd created Simply Inc. as an agency specializing in events and brand collaborations. Soon after, she noticed a missing link between people trying to make their way in the fashion and beauty industries and those leading the fashion and beauty industries. She saw the opportunity to connect these two stylish and driven groups by creating events that would bring together key tastemakers to share, inspire and educate anyone who was interested in hearing about their thoughts and experiences. As it turns out, a lot of people wanted to hear what our chic and knowledgeable panelists had to say. And thus, Simply Stylist was born.  In 2014, Simply Digital Network was created to assist celebrity bloggers navigate the digital space and monetize their blogs.
“Simply Inc. is a way for like-minded women to come together, learn from one another, get inspired and to network.  It’s a place where we showcase the true trendsetters and uplift fashion and beauty tastemakers of the future.” – Sarah Boyd, Simply Inc.
    About Founder Sarah Boyd:
Sarah Boyd is the founder and creative mind behind Simply Stylist and Simply Digital Network; we like to think of her as our oh-so-chic captain. With years of experience in fashion PR under her belt, Sarah set out to start her own multi-service boutique agency in 2012 to connect the style makers she encountered on a daily basis with brands, events and other opportunities. This eventually grew to include what is now a core part of the company: the Simply Stylist conference. Forbes named her a “Female Founder to Watch” in 2013 and she’s been featured in People Style Watch, E!, The Zoe Report and many more. Sarah’s vision for Simply Stylist was to create an inviting space for driven, stylish and tech-savvy women to come together, learn and connect.  She is also a fashion & beauty contributor to Forbes.
