Entertain This...

It's that time of the year again! We're celebrating May the Fourth in our usual fashion by inviting guests on to talk with us about that Galaxy Far Far Away. This year, we've got some long-time friends of the show D33JW, and Nick Wolf joining us to discuss everything Star Wars and to play a round of Star Wars Jeopardy with us. We have some laughs, test our knowledge, and most importantly, have a good time. So listen in, and May the Fourth be with you.

SomeBODY once told me this movie's gonna roll me... and they were right. We're all told classic fairy tales as children, stories like Cinderella and Snow White to name a few; and they serve as cautionary tales made up to teach us some sort of a life lesson. What Shrek does is the complete opposite. From the very start, you know you're in for a cartoonish over-the-top sarcastic parody of your standard Disney-esque fare. And who can forget the memes? Come on down to our swamp, and listen to this episode. You'll enjoy our layers of commentary, and hopefully walk away with a deeper appreciation when it's all ogre!

If you're of a certain age, you probably have fuzzy memories of spending a weekend afternoon at a shopping mall. These pleasant memories are often relived by going to the places in which you experienced them in the first place, but something's not quite right. These malls that we used to inhabit and shop in are disappearing, dying, or falling into a state of disrepair. Our Special Guest on this episode, UniComm Productions, seeks to document the decay and preserve what's left of these shopping centers on video for other generations to catch a glimpse of what the past looked like. So walk the Malls with us as we talk about local Cincinnati favorites, and what the future may hold for our nostalgic halls of retail.

Two fantasy authors walk into a bar... It's no joke setup, but the punchline is a fruitful friendship that lasted decades between JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis. The rich mythologies and backstories within their literature provided Britain with a reminder of their cultural mythos that had been lost to the winds of time. Beyond the hobbits, rings, and lions; the works of J.R.R. Tolkien also created the inspiration for the popular tabletop game Dungeons and Dragons. How? Well, you'll have to listen in to find out as we ask you to Entertain This...

Zelda has long been a staple of Nintendo's video game offerings. Since its first release in the late 1980s, it has become a household name and produced some revolutionary first steps in pushing the envelope of the way games are designed and played. To talk about all this and more, we had to bring on a special guest from the Big Chicken Bits podcast, John Kincaid, who did the research to untangle the timelines and get to the true lore of what exactly is at the heart of Link's eternal struggle to strike down Ganon.

This episode is all about the rise and demise of Blockbuster, all the missteps they took in the early 2000s, and how a startup called Netflix got their dominance in the modern movie-watching person's mind.
