Exxon is suing its own shareholders for proposing reduced carbon emissions. Activist investment firms Arjuna Capital and Follow This are minority stakeholders of Exxon, and want to submit a proposal at the next Exxon meeting to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This proposal has already been submitted previously and vastly outvoted. Exxon states that such a proposal would be akin to business suicide, even though the other major oil corporations have all already accepted such proposals. Is Exxon within its rights to sue?

Poseidon supports black characters in fantasy because his indie media production company, Mavros Prime, focuses on making manga and anime characters with dark, melanated skin. This isn’t necessarily easy to do in a genre that has so much foundation built in Japan. Still, with much of the conventional fantasy world becoming stale (looking at you, Marvel, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings), Poseidon and Mavros are primed to be at the cutting edge of new stories.

In the second half of our conversation with Dr. Marko Suvajdzic, we discuss what it was like for him to be the Founding Director of the Department for Computer Arts and Design at the Academy of Art, Belgrade, directly after the end of the Serbian civil war. We also discuss his current position as Associate Director & Professor of Digital Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida. Near the end, we ask Marko how he defines art.

“Good art - or high art - is art that the investment of my time and my consciousness to experience has been rewarded by incredible growth of me as a human being. Bad art is art that - ok, it’s art, and I engaged with it, and in the end I kinda wished I didn’t… low art is like sugar.”
