Entrepreneur Like You

Listen, you hear a lot of stories like this. "I was virtually dead, living on the streets, abandoned by everyone that loved me..."

I know it's a common story, and it sounds like BS. That's not my story. I had plenty of people that loved me, but I still was a huge screwup.

I choose to drop out of high school rather than face expulsion due to NEVER going to class. I was pretty much a juvenile delinquent, and complete 100% certified moron.

I remember getting my Mom to sign the papers that allowed me to drop of out of High School and to enroll in a school in Fort Worth that would allow me to go twice a week, for two hours until I graduated. She was overcome with grief, worry, and embarrassment, I'm sure.

There was nothing wrong with the school I graduated from, and it's goals were admirable. It was mostly girls that had gotten pregnant, kids that had been expelled from public school, and some kids that had been charged with crimes (our school district wouldn't allow kids with pending felonies to go the public school).

So that's where I went, two nights a week for several months until I finally did enough to scrape by and get a diploma. One day I came home and my Dad said, "Hey, I talked to my friend and he said you were conspicuously absent from your high school graduation."

I accidentally missed my own high school graduation! Seriously, are you getting an idea of how much of a screwup I was?

Fast forward through several years of directionless wandering and stupidity and now I'm an attorney. I'm an entrepreneur. I have insane discipline and I am as driven as anyone you will ever meet. I do not run from my fears, I face them. I fail on a daily basis. But I push forward.

If I can do this, you can do this. You have to work, and you have to do things that will make you uncomfortable. Sometimes your mind will tell you to run away, and sometimes you will. But you have to recognize that the feeling is temporary and pick yourself up and try again.

Keep pushing forward. Keep striving. Keep failing. Stay Driven. Ignore the friends and family that want to keep you in the mold of your past. You'll eventually pass them up, but you can never change their minds on who you are. You don't need to! Let them judge from the sidelines as you rack up day after day of productivity. They do not matter.

How to take action today: Set the biggest goals you can reach in 90 days. Set out daily tasks that will help you reach those goal. Make a Damn Schedule! Follow it. Rinse and repeat! Remember that you will fail because you are in uncharted territory. That will get you started.

Terms and conditions are best to be thought of as a way of laying out the rules of your transactions:

1) What will your company provide the customer? 2) What will the customer provide your company? 3) What will happen if things don't work out? (Refund policy) 4) How and when will payments be processed? 5) What are the procedures to end the relationship? 6) Where can the customer find your Privacy Policy? (discussed tomorrow) 7)Where will any litigation take place? 8) What type of activity is acceptable (forums, FB Groups, etc.) 9) Boilerplate stuff (severability clause, limitation on Liability, indemnity clause)
