Even as the national vaccine rollout inoculates Americans against COVID-19, climate change is already fueling the next wave of global pandemics. A new study raises concerns over the air quality of Boston subways. Plus, the Biden administration rejoins the Paris Climate Agreement. Those stories and more in our environmental roundtable.

Harriet Tubman never lost a passenger on the Underground Railroad, the secret network of people and places that helped enslaved people escape to freedom. She spent time in New England and Boston, specifically, where several Underground Railroad stations were located. There are 650 Underground Railroad sites across the country, and 12 newly designated by the National Park Service. One of the new stations is right here in Edgartown, Massachusetts, the first and only on Martha’s Vineyard.
