This is the third part of a series of EMERGENCY PODCAST SYSTEM Rumble episodes on Trump's war on Portland. In this episode, we will hear from a longtime Black Lives Matter activist and the founder of "Don't Shoot Portland," Teressa Raiford. Long before the recent uprising, Teressa has been at the forefront of the resistance against state power and fighting for the liberation of Black Americans. She joins Michael to discuss how the unsolved shooting of her nephew sparked her activism, why auditing the police and other government agencies is so important, and the underlying, systemic racism that is at the heart of why we must resist. She also has no respect for Portland’s mayor and she’s worn out listening to white people wanting to help with the “gang problem.”

From the Portland Mercury:
Eighteen percent. That’s how many police officers in the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) actually live in the city they’re sworn to protect. According to city data obtained by the Mercury in a public records request, only 158 of the bureau’s 864 sworn officers live at an address with a ZIP code that falls within Portland city limits. And that’s actually a generous estimate—some PPB officers live in ZIP codes that straddle several city boundaries...More PPB officers live in Washington state (177 total) than in Portland proper.
