Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis that typically affects areas of pilosebaceous gland-containing skin. In HS, patients often suffer recurrent attacks of discharging and painful lesions that can require multiple courses of antibiotics or surgical drainage.
