'Saal Chaurasi' by Pritpal Kaur is a new novel in Hindi portraying the characters dealing with the consequences in the aftermath of the anti Sikh riots of 1984 in India.

Nearly 3,000 members of India's Sikh community were massacred after the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her two Sikh bodyguards on 31 October 1984.

Several government inquiries investigated the causes of the violence over the years and examined whether the massacre could have been averted and whether there were lapses of duty on the past of the authorities, leaving a sense of 'justice denied' in the Sikh community.
