Do you buy certain things to be “seen” a certain way?

• As a committed entrepreneur
• As a good mom
• As someone who is manifesting something
• As someone who has it together
• As someone who can afford it
• As someone who (fill it in for you)

Lots of people do it. 

And most don’t even realize it.

I remember when I was in a business at 19 and you were supposed to buy tickets to an event that was coming up for all the imaginary people you wanted there. 

They made a big deal about it.

“This is what people who are committed to success do,” they said.

So I did it because I was committed to being successful.

What I ended up with was $70 worth of tickets that went to waste, two friends who were stuck at an event, because you know you had to get people to use your tickets so you’d be successful, bored out of their minds and not a step closer to success.

In fact, because I had two people next to me who were so not into it, I think I was further from success because I was focused on them and how unhappy they were instead of taking in the information from the event. 

I would coach myself to do so many things differently now. 

Michele was doing something similar in her business and I was able to coach her to do it differently.

There were all kinds of ways how buying what she was buying was actually creating more of what she doesn’t want in her life. Not to mention creating a cupboard full of products she’s not using (because she has too much) and a smaller bank account. 

She doesn’t do that anymore and as a leader she now leads differently too.

After you’ve listened, do a self money evaluation and see if there is anywhere you are spending money because you want to be seen a certain way.

If you find someplace you are doing that. Stop of course, and find a way to direct that money to be an investment in the person and life you desire to be and live.
