Topic: Overcoming shame.
Guest: Anne Beiler is the founder of Auntie Anne's Pretzels.
In the midst of doing our daily lives many people are silently struggling with shame, loss and pain.
Anne Beiler began twisting pretzels in 1987 to support her husband's vision of offering free counseling services in their community. What started as a single farmer's market stand grew into “Auntie Anne’s”, the world's largest hand-rolled soft pretzel franchise. She encountered much grief in her life as well. On today’s episode, she shares her story of navigating unimaginable loss, silent struggles, and the pressure to appear “okay” even when everything feels broken inside. After losing her young daughter in a tragic accident, she found herself trapped in grief, guilt, and even an abusive situation that deepened her pain. Like so many, she kept going—building a business, showing up for others—while secretly struggling. Anne's journey from humble beginnings in an Amish-Mennonite family to building a global pretzel empire exemplifies resilience, faith, and entrepreneurship. Through personal tragedy, she found strength in her faith, which guided her healing process and shaped her path forward. Her experiences have yielded valuable lessons in both business and life that continue to inspire others today. Her journey of healing and redemption is a powerful reminder that no one has to carry their burdens alone.
