Resistance is a part of the process. 

Here is the Google definition: the refusal to accept or comply with something; the attempt to prevent something by action or argument.

In growth, resistance naturally happens when who you are bumps up against who you are becoming.

It happens because while you want everything your Future Self has, you are also scared of what that means she does not have. 

Because you don’t get to know every detail or what is going to change and evolve as you become your Future Self.

Often, this causes resistance. Which can be a refusal to comply with things your Future Self does. Or strong actions of holding on to the things you are most afraid to lose.

A refusal is resistance. And it can look like:

• Not telling your coach things
• Holding tightly to things you sense you might lose
• Withdrawing
• Pretending everything is fine
• Not asking for help
• Not sharing the truth of what you are feeling
• Justifying not doing the “work”

These are all things that Kate did.

Maybe you recognize that you have done these things in the past as well.

It’s okay. It’s helpful to recognize it so you have a better awareness if it happens again.
