On January 31, 2019, Libby Squire, a 21-year-old university student, disappeared following a night out with friends in Kingston upon Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Libby was abducted, raped, and murdered by a sexual predator. Her killer, Pawel Relowicz, was later convicted of her rape and murder, and was charged with additional voyeurism, outraging public decency and burglary offences.
Laura is joined by Lisa Squire, Libby’s mother, who bravely shares her family’s story and the devastating impact of her daughter’s murder, and the lifelong trauma families endure when systems fail to prevent violence.
Laura carefully unravels the behavioural patterns and risk factors present in Libby’s case challenging common myths around “random” attacks and highlighting how opportunity, predatory behaviour, and escalation intersect. Laura, Jodie and Lisa dive deep into the red flags and patterns present in the behaviour of these repeat offenders, and what needs to happen next to save women and children’s lives.
This is an essential listen; it could save a life.
