The implementation of electronic health records became mainstream as the result of Meaningful Use standards. While most hospitals have EHRs today, not all are connecting with one another. Kathleen Sheehan is program director for meaningful use in the acute care division at Universal Health Services. UHS is one of the largest hospital management companies in the nation with more than 240 acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities and ambulatory centers in the U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom. In this episode, Kathleen shares how organizations can overcome barriers to connect disparate systems across the continuum of care.
