Truly understanding the Gospel and detoxing from religion will revolutionize your relationship with God, with yourself, and with all of creation.

If you think you aren’t religious, I challenge you to look deeper. Many people who say they aren’t religious, say it is because they have a ‘relationship’ with Jesus, therefore they think they aren’t religious. However, whether you have a relationship with Him or whether you are a devoted church attendee hoping that He is listening to your prayers, I propose that if you think there is ANY separation between you and God, you are, in fact, religious.

Religion, as it is presented in the Western church, is separation from God. It is the Tree of Knowledge rather than the Tree of Life. But, the Gospel is the announcement of the death of a self that is separate from God. It is the announcement of our union with Him. It is the announcement that our original origin is not Adam, it is Jesus. It is the announcement that we’ve died to sin. It is the announcement that there is no ‘us’ outside of Christ.

This may sound radical, but it is all over the New Testament.

Religion is the illusion of separation from God. It is time to detox from our human effort of trying to become something we already are - perfect in Christ.
