Brenden Schaeffer breaks down the masterful Sonny Gray performance from Friday as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Guardians 5-0. Sonny threw a one-hitter, a shutout, a MADDUX (fewer than 100 pitches) by retiring the Cleveland lineup for 27 outs on just 89 pitches, walking none, giving up just one hit, and somehow doing those amazing efficient things while striking out 11 batters.

He was as good as we've ever seen, and doled out a lot of credits to his teammates, especially Pedro Pages, after the win.

Pedro contributed, too, at the plate with a homer, and Alec Burleson also went yard. Lots of good vibes for the Cardinals to begin the road trip!
