Will and Bernie are baffled to learn that the Cardinals are saying they're making big changes ... but bringing the exact people who let things go downhill back to make those changes. What is going on? We try to make sense of it. But it's very, very hard.

We've got only two weeks left in the season. Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch ask the big question: How much CAN the Cardinals change in the offseason? On the field? Not a lot, we argue. But off the field? That's the big one.

Now that this season is (essentially) over, Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch ask what happens next, and if it will require a housecleaning to get the fans back. The answer is ... probably yes.

Lots of empty seats at Busch this week, and the national media noticed. Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch discuss the moribund Cardinals organization and what might be done, if anything. Then we take a whole bunch of mailbag questions. Labor Day is over, all: Time to get back to work.

The Cardinals had a 4-2 week but lost Willson Contreras again, which bodes very poorly for the next month. What happens if the Cardinals bottom out? Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch also contrast the Cardinals and the Padres, and discuss if Mike Shildt is better off having left St. Louis entirely.

Egads, it got really bad. The Cardinals are in big trouble, and Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch try to figure what, if anything, can be done. They also go long on fanbase psychology, and what it means to be a Cardinals fan right now.

The Cardinals currently have a 14 percent chance of making the playoffs? If they fall short--with attendance now about to fall below three million for the season for the first time in nearly two decades--the question has to be asked: Will John Mozeliak fall on his sword if they fall short? Won't he have to? Won't somebody? Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch try to war game out the scenarios in what sure feels like a very pivotal month-and-a-half in Cardinals history.

Until about 9:30 Central Time on Thursday, the Cardinals had GREAT vibes. And then it all fell apart during a truly awful weekend in Wrigley. Is there still hope for this team? Can they make a run? When's ownership going to step up? What in the WORLD is up with Goldschmidt and (especially) Arenado? Can Pham save us? Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch discuss!
